Anyone up for a good project? This ’67 complete and original gelcoat orange Nautique came from outside Chicago. It had a become a dull shade of salmon over the years but the shiny orange is almost back after way too much wet sanding and heavy compounding. Some of the deep splotches won’t go away however, nor will the handfull of spider cracks, which are fortunately below the waterline. So she may not be a great candidate for a serious restoration without spending a lot of money. So since I love orange as much as member tryan does, I plan to just go with some new vinyl, carpet, and rubrail, and go boating, without worrying about banging the docks.

August ’04 Update: Short time ago I acquired a very complete mid-60’s vintage Chrysler 413 engine, and being a speed and motorhead nut, this boat seemed to be the best recipient for this engine since the 318 Mopar Poly is a little tired. So I pulled up the floor to get ready for the swap and discovered that the engine stringers and outer frame members are in poor condition. The plans are now to replace the 1x outer members and I’ve aquired 2 fabbed stainless channels to fit over the stringers to support this heavier engine, in lieu of replacing the stringers at this time. I’ll post more picts as the work slowly continues.
