I bought my 1964 American Skier in 1998. At that time she ran but was in pretty rough shape...
We ran it that first summer as she was. That fall I started on the restoration which included a new floor (stringers were strong) and carpet, paint. I built new seats for the front and had them upholstered along with the rear seat. Have done a lot of little things to get it running strong and reliable, best motor improvement was installing electronic ignition. All new gauges and wiring, lights, radio system, bilge pump, 4� vent fan hooked up to the front vent. The engine was rebuilt just before I purchased with some upgrades, Edelbrock aluminum intake with a 4 barrel H olley, roller rockers. Velvet drive, 1:1 ratio and runs strong and consistent. The paint scheme is not original but I didn�t want to go with the standard solid color. So I elected to put a few stripes along body contours. I built the teak platform for the rear, I knew we would be doing a lot of in and out of the boat and with no ladder or such, it was a no brainer.
We are on Devils Lake in the Irish Hills of southern Michigan. All in all this is a great little boat that turns heads and sounds great!
