I bought this 1995 Ski Nautique Signature Edition in the summer of 2009 and have never looked back! The interior and exterior were a little bit rough, but after some research on this forum and hours of wet-sanding and compounding, the boat looks brand new again.
I’ve been skiing as long as I can remember, but this is my first inboard. After being used to difficult starting and questionably running outboards all my life, the fuel injected GT40 engine is just spectacular. It has all the power I could ever want and never gives me a lick of trouble.
This boat has taken my skiing and barefooting to a whole new level that I never would have been able to reach with our previous boats. The perfect wake and rock-solid pull put a smile on my face just thinking about it. The originally equipped heater and shower help extend our skiing season from March through November which is pretty long for mid-northern Indiana (the dry suit doesn’t hurt either).
As the pictures show, the exterior was very oxidized and chalky looking. I began by wet-sanding with 400 grit up to 1000 and then used three stages of compound (heavy cut, regular, and finishing). I then installed new pin-striping and all new decals. After a coat of Collinite wax I can use the hull as a mirror!
This forum is a wonderful resource and I thank everyone for the wealth of information. I couldn’t have gotten my boat looking this good without it!
