Bill Hirsh, spray or qts, color Alloy. Much better paint than Duplicolor.

I tried this:
Now I wasn't going for an exact concourse match, but wanted that 'burnished' silver look of the original PCM of the era. I applied a base of DupliColor engine enamel (DE 1615 Aluminum), over which I immediately sprayed a light mist of DupliColor Pewter Metallic. (BGMo490). Extremely pleased with results. |

Gary, that was a color I picked out myself. I think it is from Dupont and in their single stage line (no clear coat). I wanted something just slightly more vibrant than what was on the engine but not enough anyone would think man that doesn't look factory.
The "Burnished" silver look was just crappy paint from PCM turning a golden color over time. I can share the paint code when I get home for the silver I used. It is pricey to go that route but my engine still looks like I freshly painted I think on season 3 or 4 other than water spots I need to wipe off. Also FYI. "PCM Specific" spray cans are just aluminum Duplicolor engine paint with the labeling removed. I used that on my brothers 351 this spring. 3 coats of primer and 4 of paint and it's already got some rust popping through on areas of the block. Meh. |

You're so right.... As I recall, it seemed to discolor within the first 100 hours, and, as my boat has over 1400 hours on it, well......you see........... |
