Bakchose graciously donated this unused boom and my son and I gladly enjoyed the roadt-trip to Boston for the pick up.
Everyone had their idea of boom use. Our neighbor girl skied for the first time with. Thanks John New skier today |

While the site was down we had the opportunity to take out our 3 grandchildren on the lake. Ages 9,7 and 5.
My 9 year old granddaughter said she wanted to learn to ski, her 7 year old sister got so excited she said she has wanted to ski FOREVER! I looked at her when she said this and asked how long that is since she is only 7. She replies, well, since, since, well since I first heard people could ski! Pretty cute. They lived in Alabama, Germany and Alaska so I have not had a chance to teach the to ski. I walked our 9 year old through instructions, had her sit in the back seat of our Nautique and hold the ski handle with both feet on the engine cover. I had her say Hit It, and pulled her rope with my arms into a standing position so she could feel how much load would be on her hands and legs when she was ready in the water. I told her to be patient that it can take some people 8-15 times to get up on their first try on skis. She looks at me dead serious and says, why don't they just do it on the first time. We put her in the water and guess what, she popped out on the first try and skied for about 10 minutes without falling. We stopped to see how she was doing, she did not fall. Then she looks at us and says, that was pretty easy, should I ski professionally. Gave us a great laugh. No lack of confidence. The 7 year old did not make it up but had lots of fun on a kneeboard, same with the 5 year old. Fun day at the lake.

That is so.....what I live for. A couple of weekends ago my neighbor had her grandson and his cousins up. I said I would take them out tubing. I know, I know, but, with some coaching the kids had a blast. Now when they are up again the kneeboard. Then the skies. It’s all about getting them interested. Anyways I had just as much fun as they did.

You're a good man John. As a new Lake home owner, Most of all I see these days are wakesurfers and tubers. Every now and then I'll see a young skier or young wakeboarder. Great stuff gentlemen! Keep skiing alive!!

I was at Lake Powell last week and we had a young man (early 20's) on the houseboat that had never done any type of water sports previously. Well....we can't have that, can we?
Most of the houseboat "elders" are slalom skiers, so the lad asked to ski. I put him behind my Ski Nautique as the other boats were Super Air Nautiques and simply not suited for skiing. He asked for 2 skis. He got the slalom trainer instead. After 5 or 6 failed starts, he was up skiing. He had a nice long run (for a rookie) and we were all delighted...particularly his girlfriend. The little Ski Nautique Open Bow is a magic boat for teaching slalom... JQ

Last year he made it up with a friend keeping him steady from the beach as I drove the jet ski. Today he’s graduated to a proper machine. My boy, James, just turned 8. Long Pond, Cape Cod, 8/10/20 Wahoo! We’ll work on form tomorrow:-)

In my family, one must first slalom before attempting to wakeboard. Rules are rules... (It's all that damn surfing that makes my head explode) JQ
