Mustang bucket

Doug, good luck- there are several of us that are searching for these buckets! I have just about resorted to making a set myself out of fiberglass.

Tim: I am still looking too...we ain't gonna find enough to fill all the need...get busy..I'll send a check.

Doug, I dont have any pics yet- but Reid says that he should be able to get me some this winter. The good news is that I also have a good upholstered set to base a mold off of- that combined with some pics should do the trick. Theyre definitely one piece.

John, I havent forgotten about you- but you may have to make the trip up to GL or LG in '09 to pick it up!

John, I havent gotten started on these yet- some pictures from Mr. P would help me, but really I just need to spend some time creating a mold. The next few weekends are booked up, so its doubtful Id have one done in a month regardless- but Ill see what I can do. Im toying with different scenarios in my head and would love to do the St. John's with you guys- but that weekend is a tough one. Ill know a bit more in the coming weeks and Ill let you know!

I ended up using one of the newer rotocast buckets for the front since i could not find one. Its a little to big and hard to get into but comfortable.

I posted to the craigslist set a mustang around here for sale with the buckets, rear facing seat and vent windows in it. If it gets a little cheaper i would be tempted to pick it up and part it out....

Except on the base the edge turned up and the seat bottom is flat.Inside that base is plywood to give support and a place to attach the rails and the cushion. It's almost like you could cut the back off of one of these,attach it to a flat bottom and use it for a mold. On mine where the back made the transition to the bottom was cracked and the plywood was bad. At the time it was easier to make a bench seat like everyone else had,D'oh

Gary, every time you mention that you junked one of these buckets, I have a *tiny* panic attack. Stop it!

Luckily I have a good set of buckets from my Skier to use as a template- but it sure would be nice to see what the seats look like when its not covered with vinyl and foam.

Ok I'll take the hint,however in my defence I did save the rest of the boat!

Are these the kind of seats that would go in my 66 mustang? And the passenger seat can be turned to face front or back?

I did print out the dimensions on the wood ones. But, I like the reversible ones. You guys will bend a little...won't ya' LOL....Maybe I can figure out how to make the wood one's reverse?

Why would they make the back seat fiberglass and the fronts in wood? My back is fg.

Michelle, the wooden bases were reversible. What makes you think they werent? Our '68 always had the rear facing observer seat- it was a ski boat!



Since the wooden bases are easier (and cheaper) to make yourself and would lend themselves originality, Id stick with them if I were you.
