Now that I've already stuck my nose into some peoples business, I guess it would be in order for me to say hi, and give a little info. My name is Ken and I'm located in far Southern New Jersey, where we have skied the same river since the 50's except for spending the eighties living and skiing in Florida. The 5 or 6 foot tide swings and strong currents have kept us in outboard boats because of continual grounding. We barefooted and trick skied through the seventies on others pro ski boats but found the OB's a lot less to deal with with the tide swings. In the 90's we spent a lot of time at 90+mph just scooting around the river and quit skiing. Recently bought a 74 Correct Craft I'd skied behind years ago, which started life as a Mustang but was slowly modified to more closely resemble a Nautique. Loved the boat back then and decided to live with the tide and current problems, buy it and take up trick skiing again. Lots of work to do onit but that's what I've done for a living for years and I love it. We've lived on a 47 ft. Pacemaker(look for it at www.woodyachts.com) for many years so we're always right on the water, no excuses anymore not to own a good ski boat.
Thanks to BuffaloBFN for the greetings,I'd be
glad to critique your bowtie, but it'll take weeks to get thru all the posts about it first. It seems you've gotten a wealth of good info and advice from several of the really knowledgable members of this forum. I look forward to being able to contribute, advise wherever I possibly can and just read and learn something from time to time. My job kept me working mainly on larger multi engine gas and diesel boats...I've also had lots of experience with LPG conversions in over the road vehicles, never tried one in a boat yet though. Since retirement I can't seem to find enough time but I'll try to keep in touch, this seems to be a great group of members here.
I hope to talk with more of you in the future.

Hi Eric. I know exactly what you're talking about, been there too....My Pacemaker is a poor man's rich boat, bought it as a salvage after a marina dropped it and blew out the whole keel, etc. I actually worked with industrial equipment, including marine travel lifts etc for many years and then went to the marine industry for the final fifteen years, worked at a local marina on our river here for those years, now just work there as needed very part time. I'm still their only engine/drive train alignment person, welder, and specialist in several other areas of the trade so they won't let me leave completly. I've read enough of your posts to know that you're the one to talk transmissions with among other things. I'm sure we'll be talking more. You've been a great help to others here I see. Thanks for the chat.

Welcome Ken. It is always great to hear of another experienced marine wrench to teach us knuckle busters what's what.

Jbear, I've read you have considerable expertise regarding footin', Beamin' and hair dryin'.

Welcome Ken,

Since you're retired now, you ought to have plenty of time to tow that boat to one of our reunions. Either Green Lake, Wisconsin, or Lake George, NY.

Welcome Ken!
Nice to have a guy with experience on LPG here!
My '89 SN runs on LPG and runs fine. Most skiboats here on our river and lake do. So, if ever I have a problem there, I'll know who to call

Welcome to our little part of cyberland Ken. Glad to have you, your expertise, and your boats. You are correct in that we have a great bunch of fella's here. They are pretty tame for the most part. They just like to growl like that old the old men that aloot of us are just to let you know they still can.........

Jbear your knowledge of hospiltality is well known so you do have knowledge of something.

Ken, I'm glad you found us. It sure sounds like you will fit in with the rest of the knowledgeable people here and have already contributed with your knowledge. You may have noticed that at times there are some threads that turn into some minor disagreements but in the end they always come out with correct answers. Don't let them bother you! Welcome again and yes, you should consider the Green Lake reunion. We'd love to have you join us.

Well John, don't worry much about that, there are enough who ARE here they can help all of us. I don't consider myself expert on these boats at all but at least I have a good mechanical background in boats and powertrains in general. Thanks for the greeting.

First of all, Thanks to everyone who offered encouragement and welcomes, I don't want to take up the space to reply to all individually....just the above thanks collectively to everyone. In regard to the reunions, I'm not likely to go to Wisconsin although I loved it there when the military sent me in the sixties but possibly the Lake George trip could be made, we'll just have to see.

I can't say, never saw Eric's welcome..is it still on a thread?
I figured everyone is in a good mood at this time of year....we just hit the water(at 48 degrees) last week and it was fffffffffffffun. Brrrrrrr.
Once more, I appreciate all those who welcomed me and I hope I can be of help sometime and I can always use some despite those who think I'm beyond help.
