the wake behind a 196 ski can only get so big before it starts to wash out, no matter how much ballast is added. That hull was designed to help promote a small wake. Now at 18-20 mph typically the wake will be at it's largest, after that it starts to flatten out. As for wake and knee boarding it depends on how big you want to go - but again it will only get so big. With that hull your best bet for wake enhancement is to put some ballast in the trunk and along side the engine box on either side. If a tower is an option go for it. In the end you can wake and knee board behind anything and that '02 ski will treat you just fine, it just depends on where you are looking to go with it!!

If you are shopping around and are looking for a ski and wake boat go for a Sport Nautique / 216. A great crossover boat that will do everything.
Have fun..

Agreed. If the wake for kneeboarding and wakeboarding is a primary concern, there are few choices that would be worse than a TSC2+ 196. The wake is simply too small and lacks definition- thats what makes it such a great slalom boat.

Wake is not going to be that impotant until kids are needing enough air to do advanced tricks. So it would matter more if they take to it and are needing more air to advance...The 196 hull would limit things to lower speeds and if they get good, they will want to go bigger!

If you have a 91 Ski Nautique, it will be a better wakeboard boat than an 02 Ski Nautique.
