Spotlight

I found this on E-Bay last week. I thought I'd put a Bid in on it. I guess someone else found it too.

Is anyone on the site Bidding on it- Just so I can stop driving the cost up?

I have one I bought from Christine's (no logo on it). Last year it never left the boat, most of the time it stays in-between the front seats, but can also be put behind the driver's seat next to the motorbox. That one more seat makes a huge difference when skiing from the pylon.

I'm guessing that's only going to work well on the 200's right Jody? Not so good for a 196?

It's not a lot of prop for a lightly loaded 196. My 90 pulled it 5500. It'd be a decent choice for a loaded up Sport, or maybe a stock BFN.

Pretty hard to find steering wheel from the late 60's and early 70's. The center cap and hub are a little different than what was found on CC's, but could likely be used as is, it appears to be the common 3/4" taper. Parts could be swapped around later as well if youre going for 100% original... this rim/spoke style does not come available often.

Someone needs to snag those platform brackets.... I waited 4 years for the 79's platform brackets.

Also, the engine cradle at $150.00 shipped seems like a crappy deal for the fellow shipping that crazy heavy awkward piece....

One problem I see with the Asheboro guy is he seems to have his parts and the years mixed up. Selling a early to mid 70's windshield frame and listed it as an 87. He's asking 300, is that high? I'm thinking about going for it.

That looks just like my 87 windshield, except its been stripped back to the base aluminum, and mines black. Front top rail looks a little different but mines a BFN so they may be a little different anyways, but the rest looks the same.

That's interesting. I guess the black can be knocked off, I didn't think about that. I've never been closer than 20' to a 2001 so not sure what the 87-89's look like up close but that aluminum channel looks identical to my 76. Either way, the snaps on top are bit of a turn off for me.

You're right Gary, I was thinking the screw on tip but a zoom in showed otherwise. I looked at some 87-89's like the one on CCF front page and that ebay listing surely must be early 70's windshield.

The listing person probably inherited a project boat somehow and listed a garage full of parts on ebay. Windshield is probably leftover from PO's previous project.

That is definitely a 88-89 windshield with the paint stripped off like Mark stated. Notice how steep the front pane is- much steeper than an early 70's windshield (87-89 windshields sat on a sloped part of the deck to make them look less upright). The 71-79 windshields also had a bit of a concave curve on the bottom frame member that you don't see on this one.
