Not to start a big debate or anything, I just thought this was a good one.

Also, if you havn't had a chance, this is a great article writen by Mitch Albom for SI. He also writes for the Detroit News. I know Tull and some of the other guys in Detroit can appreciate this.

now that you are buying "hidden stock". them nips marketed thier cars and people bought...the big 3 also have the same tools to market...shame on them. the more I hear about the auto industry, the unions, CEO's. clean f-n house and start over....it would be cheaper

Thanks for threading that article from Mitch Albom. The story is very indicative of the people in our area. I'm about 40 miles NW of Detroit, and go into the city whenever I have a chance (usually a sporting event, restaurant or concert). We also do a lot of business in the city, though, currently, not as much as we would like. I hope some of you guys take the time to read the article, it's quite long, but quite good. It is also spot on in regards to the people in this region.

I mentioned a while back about GE selling the rights of thier locomotive line to the slant eyes, they just laid off 35 more guy's, and im trying to collect from this guy before he loses his job so i can pay my guy's, trickle down, I call it
American greed and corruption has caught up with society, and we are paying for it.
one guy that really frosts my nuts is that Illinois Govonor...what ever happened to the firing sqaud? isnt a couple hundred grand a year enough? you have to send a message to these guy's and make examples out of them.
what the f is Impeaching this guy going to do, the only thing it will do is allow him for early retirement and a one way to wherever he has his offshores set up

Eric, Blogo will get his in the criminal trial. I'm still hoping Bush doesn't pardon the last *************** we put in jail from our state.

Also, make sure you see Gran Torino, best movie I have seen in many years. I think you'll agree.

Drives me nuts. Didnt vote for him, dont like his socialist tendencies, but still, he's the guy and I am willing to at least give him a chance to see what he does rather than condemn him from the start.

But all these moonbats that constantly praise him like he's actually done something, anything, when he has, as of yet, done NOTHING...NOTHING at all. I just don't get it. At least wait until he does SOMETHING to see if he comes even close to measuring up to all the hype before we think about Obama plates and Obama Day, and Obama monuments and Obama on Mt Rushmore and third terms. Good grief people, use your heads.

Tull-
I am a native Michigander. Grew up in Lake Orion, near Rochester. Still own a house in Ferndale off 9 and Woodward. I moved out, like so many others, because I could not find work in my profession. I am currently trying to find a job in SE MI, but as of yet have had no luck. I love it in FL, but it does not hold a candle in the wind to MI, at least in my mind. I really hope I can move back soon, as Albom's article hits the nail right on the head for me.

IMHO, the best thing MI could do for itself would be to throw Granholm out of office, but I am not holding my breath as we had the chance to elect a real leader with d*ck Devos and let it slide right through our fingers.

Kristof,
I was waiting to see if you would catch that. Bud is not my beer of choice, there are so many other good beers being produced. I am very partial to the Triple Belgian style beers, and also the IPA's. But don't get me wrong, I'll drink a Bud or two if it's the only thing around. Like I've said in the past, I'm a beer goat.

Azeus,
I'm not far from your old stomping grounds. I will be at Lake Orion High School on Saturday for my son's swim meet, and I was in Ferndale, at a restaurant called Anita's Kitchen, a couple of weeks ago.
Your opinion on Granholm is dead on. It is almost comical how she is ruining, er,I mean running this state. I would have liked to have seen what DeVos could have done.

Mitch Albom talks about the fact that we manufacture. But manufacturing is leaving Detroit and the US as a whole. There are many reasons for this, and one is pointed out in this video.
Ford's new plant in Brazil
Whether it's labor issues, over regulation by the government, tree huggers, the list goes on and on as to why we are loosing manufacturing jobs.

How's swim season going Steve? If I recall correctly, you said your older son just sort of stepped into it and did well, but I believe he graduated so this is your second son? How's he doing? What's he swim? What kind of times?

If you are really bored and have time to kill (I believe you said things were slow at the plant due to the cold), I (at her request) put together for my daughter, a video compilation of her high school swimming career. You kinda had to be there to appreciate it, but at the same time, as a swimming parent, you might like it.

anna swimming

Click on the link on the right side of the page...it takes a while to load - its kind of big. If you look at it, you have to sort of understand that girls swimming can be a little more touchy feely than boys.

I'm kind of in swimming mode right now. My Harvard meet is in about 8 weeks. Actually getting so I feel pretty good in the water about now...seems to take longer as I get older. Also, I've been going to a bunch of boys HS meets even tho I have no one involved. Just enjoy it. Team is real good this year.

Tull, I knew you knew... . We are a beer loving country and are quite patriotic about our beers, but, as you said, there are good beers all from all over the world. When I'm abroad, I will allways take a taste of the local beers...

Due to all kind of reasons (similar reasons as you mention), the same thing is happening in the Ford plant here in Genk, Belgium and jobs get lost...

It didn't seem right that the Belgians bought Bud last summer. I vowed to drink only local beers, which we have many good ones around here. But, they are too rich for the system and obviously not brewed to be drank dailey or even in modest quantities, so Bud it is, regardless of who owns them. At least they're owned by a country known for making good beer. Kristof, don't let them fool with the recipe.

Riley, as you said, it is bought by a company that knows how to make good beer. Do not worry about them messing with the recipe... The reason they bought Bud is because they know it IS a good beer... The other advantage is that it can make its way through Europe a little easier.

Eric, the ole Red White and Blue is the biggest selling beer in the world for a reason, taste. I like most beer, but Bud always tastes great.

Something I found out last summer when trying to find the source of my distress during vacation, (it took awhile to figure out if it was the micro brew, lobster, brauts, wings or whatever else we were eating that week). It was the wheat in the micro brews. Budweiser is made from Rice. Rice is easy on the system.

so the buttery lobster, the garlic brauts and the hot wings had nothing to do with it? lol
