My brother-in-law bent the strut on my 77'Nautique last weekend. I'm not sure what he hit or how fast he was going but it placed the shaft about 1" off center. He then tried making up for it by straightening it back with a hammer. Can anyone recommend where to find a used strut and what the angle & drop would be as all markings were obliterated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DW,
You can get a new one or straighten the old. We have members who have done it themselves in a press or you can take it to a prop shop and they can do it. Be prepared for a strut/shaft/engine alignment. All the proceedures are her in the forums.

A new strut can be found by doing a on line search for Buck Algonquin. New will require all the alignment too. Keep us posted if you run into any problem.

BTW, keep your brother in law from getting behind the helm!!!

SkiDim sells them specifically for Ski Nautiques. I had bought a new one just to eliminate the variable of repair distortion. I saved my old strut for backup, hopefully will never need it (like insurance).

See this site post if you want to bend it back yourself:

Thanks for your help and hopefully I'll be back on the water soon, w/o the brother-in-law. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
