I really enjoyed getting to meet many CCF members and seeing so many Correct Craft boats from so many years. I was surprised by how many people knew me by my CCF name! We got in at around 6:00 pm to park my dad's 1983 Ski Nautique. We had to park the boat in the grass off to one side and having to directly cross paths with the golf members of the country club.

They seemed less than impressed with our activity and were very vocal about our boat a vehicle being in the way (GET THAT #%$% PARKED) now! I was curious about their member reaction to having all that confusion within their country club.

Did this seem to work for them and us?

Thanks for looking, any reactions!

Tuscumbia is hardly a "country club". I wouldn't worry about any reactions besides the owners. I will give greater consideration to wearing cut offs and a wife beater next year (had it packed last time).

Like HW said, Tuscumbia is a country club only in the loosest sense. I wouldn't take the comment to heart. There is a d--k in every crowd and you happened across him.

The manager was thrilled with the event and is looking to "step it up" for next year. If the majority of ball chasers really had an issue, he would have heard about it and would have relayed the complaints.

Scott,
Let me thank you and your dad again for taking the time to come out to the GL this year.

Not to worry, their are no "members" of this public golf course. As far as some of the duffers that played that night were merely caught off guard.

We shared cocktails with the owner long after the boats were gone and he was thrilled with the outcome and wanted to know how to better his service to us all next year..

I personally thought Friday night was a huge success dspite the cold weather.. With what we've learned from this year's event, we'll even be better organized next year....

Thanks again for attending. Hope you had a great time..

We were glad to meet so many loyal CCF members and also had a great time. Only time it got tense was when mine and Skierbrant's 1989 were being backed in at the point where the pavement split into two directions. We were at the bottom point that created a slight backup in golf-carts. Hate to have my boat sworn at by golf club members! I still was not sure why they did not just go around us in the grass, must be a club rule or something! Skierox was the one trying to back the boat up between the trees and the weeds down at the end of the road!

We were not trying to upset anyone, just trying to follow directions on parking the boat. I guess we were a little surprised, but also understand that we were in the way, or slowing their game down. We said nothing and continued with our job at hand.

I guess we were the only lucky ones to receive such an unexpected welcome!!!!

I am glad to hear that we were the only ones that got yelled at! Maybe it was someone that was not having a good day on the course, or just decided not to be flexible.

Thanks for responding!

Yeah, It's the mad "fish Fry" dinner rush that you guys got caught in Hope you guys didn't let that spoil your fun or keep you away from attending GL10'.
Yes, there are many things we've learned from this new set up and frankly thought it came out way better than expected. Organizing the parking of 50 some boats by class was a feat in itself.

It's all good... The boats came in and out without a scratch this year, everyone got to check out the biggest and most amazing display of CC's, that were 99% class oriented, and if had the chance, were able to eat some of the best midwest lake perch on the planet Haha...

Well I think we live and learn each year and continue to improve on things. I personally thought friday night was fantastic but there are certainly a few things we could do differently to make it a little easier. The CC was a new venue for us and overall it went very well.

1. We need to get boats parked and unhooked quicker. (I say this with all due respect, but if you're not good at backing your boat up let someone that is do it. yikes!!!)

2. We could start an hour earlier to beat the dinner crowd.

3. get the rigs off the road waiting to come into the CC, I hear there was a backup out on the street and guys didn't like being in the way out there.

4. We need signage to guide everyone to parking after unhooking. The designated lot was not easily found and we had to move quite a few cars later because they were parked in the dinner lot.

5. Another thing that might make it smoother is for the CC to close off entrance to the club from I believe it's route A. We had dinners trying to enter against our flow of boat traffic and thats where pauly and skierox had their little conflict. Those people were actually very impatient but had the road been closed to one way only they could have gone around the block and avoided the whole thing.

6. We need to make sure everyone submits their shirt sizes when registering so we can prepack the member packets so checking in will go quicker. And there's only one badge per boat so don't give the volunteers a hard time when there's no badge for your spouse!!!!

I though Friday was a fantastic success except.... the country club must have imported their cook from out of state or maybe even the east coast!!

Wisconsin style brats never go in a steam table/boiling water. I hope the group who has never had them before didn't get a bad impression. Brats are par boiled in beer with onions and then browned on the grill. For a large group such as ours, they can be done a alternate way like the firemen do at our small town firemens picnic up north. They brown first and then keep them warm/finish cooking in the beer with onions.

Dave (moj) you've got to get into that kitchen and slap that so called cook silly!!

We would have taken any type of brat that night. The food was all gone when we got there! It was fine, we got busy meeting people and looking at all the well taken care of boats! Great to see some Chrysler 318's like Pauly had in his 1968 Ski Nautique, but had to sell to get his 1983!

We ordered really good Pizza and had it delivered to our hotel room after getting the boats back! Skierbrant also brought a whole container of Ms.Fisher potato chips from Rockford. The two went well together with some choice beverages!

By the way, skierbrant used the CCF black with Nautique lettering life vest that he won during the banquet. He said that the arm movement while slalom skiing at 32 off was awesome!

Scott,
Next year you better leave a little earlier. Maybe by then the cook will have learned how to cook the brats properly too!!

I really think that this is how the site works best. There has already been new ideas and suggestions to make next year better than ever. I guess that more than some of us had a "why are you here" and "you are in the way" feeling from those that expected just golf carts, clubs and seeing their friends and play the front nine!

Well don't fly into ATL.

Amy got busted in the security line at MKE because of a perfume bottle she missed. They were so much nicer to deal with than our folks in the southern hub. The difference is guilty until proven innocent at Hartsfield. Go Wisconsin! Not so sure about the road marking thing though.

Oh yea...you don't want to do the river run; way too much fun to share!

I guess from the golfers point of view, were they informed that a bunch of people were making their way into their Friday night golf activities with about sixty boats and a couple hundred people. I would have hoped that they would have been informed that this could cause some issues during their use of their golf course! I would suppose that many of the CC golfers would find it difficult in making a connection between golf and Correct Craft boats.

Being a first year participant we had no idea what to expect, but just hope that it works out well in the future. Finding a place to stage sooo much activity and sooo many boats is difficult in it's self a huge challenge and I appreciate the effort at trying to find a location to have such a large gathering. Thanks to all those who have put in the effort at trying to locate a place so that all of us can meet and exchange ideas and thoughts about our prized boats!

We use to do a Southern Minnesota reunion and have always struggled in finding ways to keep those who brought the boats and those that were using the lake for other activities happy.

Keep in mind that economically this helps the region of Green Lake. We rent rooms, buy gas, food and much more! As this grows, some might count on our participation to help stay in business.

Hey, I even got to drive a golf cart. Kytom usually takes the keys if I get close enough to drive. Something about the golf course would ban us if I ever got behind the wheel. I don't think I hit anything?

Greg,
Tell Amy that I consider the Atlanta area to be south and not east! Actually, I could have said anywhere besides Wisconsin but I wanted to see if anyone on the east coast was awake!!

Man,

I think it was a blast Friday night, just have to do some things different next year. But hey that's how we get better !!!!

I think the golfer's got mad because: I charge them for parking and made some side money..hehe

But all in all I had a good time.

We traveled 2800 miles round trip dragging our '80 behind and it was worth every turn of the wheel. It was even worth losing furthest traveled just to meet Lewy and Jo. Sure the weather was not what we would have asked for but it was about seeing all you guys and meeting a few new....like Chris and Pauly and his boys. Special treat...sleeping with quinner....and Maddie. Had to keep an eye on the wonder dog.
Moj...you, Alan, Steve and your familes and crew do a wonderful job. You know it, the numbers prove it, nothing more need be said.
Just hope we can make it again next year. Had a Work Camp meeting today...looks like a conflict. Might not pull the boat all the way there tho just to be in the show. Friday night was great, just like all aspects of the weekend. Thanks Pete...I was sure those brats were not just right. I'll be happy to sample them again next year!

Not that I know of for sure but I am figuring it will be the same weekend as this year. Looks like we will have camp the last week of July which means I will have to go to Tennessee a week earlier so I can be back for the camp.
I posted on the AT&T thread...know what is going on for Pete?
BTW; thanks for the contract update.
