Hello all, any thoughts on a Melling camshaft P# 24209 ? Any HP increases over the stock pleasurecraft engine? I ask all of this because I have a 24209, and a set of GT40p's to go on this winter. Just don't have alot of cam information on the web anymore on Reverse ROT engines. (Unless you go custom grind) and wondered what I could expect..
Thanks,
Bob

Hooty, I found the specs for that cam on the net and pluged them into desk top dyno. It's better than stock but nothing remarkable. I would call cam research and have them grind one for you.

I did that same upgrade now on my 92 engine but it is a std rotation..I ordered by recomendation of these guys here a cam from cam research and the model is the cr266, i donĀ“t know if its the same model for a rr engine..
the cost was $265 for the cam and the lifters..and and extra 60 for having the breakin service...plus shipping
talk to scott from cam research he will know the best for your set up!!!
cam specs are the following lift 490 Int. exh. duration @ .50 218 int 222 exh.
The engine is almost complete now and the striger job its in its way so no comments yet on performance...

Not just the CR cam, but any cam that approaches .500 of lift. Basically if you want to run anything but the stock cam on a 351w, then you should upgrade the stock P valvesprings.

Kap ended up ordering the same cam that I have in my '90. I replaced the whole top end at once (heads/intake/cam) and it really woke the boat up.

Be sure to get the bolt holes on the heads drilled out to 1/2" before you go to bolt them on! Stock size on the P's are 7/16" since they originally came on 302's.
