Well we would like a 289 interceptor for our 68 freeport, like it came stock. But, we would also go for the 302 ford because we beleive that will bolt right up.
We would prefer that it was in good condition. Running doesn't matter cause we can rebuild the motor as long as we do not have to machine it. |

Careful with the bell housing bolt pattern. The new blocks don't necessarily bolt up to the old bell housings. I'm sure one of the guys can fill in the blanks regarding the details but it has something to do with the quantity and location of the bolts. There's a thread on it someplace too. I'm confused with you not needing a running engine, can rebuild it, but have a problem with machine work. There must be someone in your area that will bore/grind??? South Bend isn't that remote!!!! BTW, most people who do their own rebuilds will job out the machine work. |

Well the main reason we dont have to do machine work is because of how expensive it can get. Plus it is a hassle, we could probably find someone to machine the block and heads on the motor we have. But then we will have to get tons of parts with it most likely. |

I have a complete Commander marine conversion and transmission out of a 79 SkiTique that had a cracked block. You supply a 289 302 or 351 long block and bolt the parts on.
