Hi All-

I have a 78 SN which I got without a bow turnbuckle. Does anyone have pictures they could post that would show the proper atacthment to the trailer?

Thanks-

Mike,
Take a look through the diaries. Set the search give and take 5 years from 78 and I'm sure you'll find a picture. The picture would be better than a description but: On my 77 the turnbuckle eye goes through a hole in a extra tab welded to the cross channel that the jack stand attaches to. I've see several different variations that came out of the CC trailer quonset hut (aka: Billy Bob's trailer and screen door) out back from the old factory too.

I take great offense to this comment Pete, my first job during high school was working at a screen door factory!!! The rest is History!!

Hi Pete-

Thanks for the responce! I did try looking through the diaries before posting and you can't believe how many trailers have been converted to winches, straps, rusty chains, bungie cords or nothing. I could not find a good clear pic of one anywhere.

I was thinking of drilling the trailer pipe crossmenber and putting an eylet through it. Then I could attach the turnbuckle to it. Problem is the bow stop is right in the way to get the right tongue weight.

Thoughts or a pic from anyone whould be great!

Thanks-
Nautique Mike

Mike - Your plan to add a through bolted eye is good. I would use a nylock nut on it to assure it doesn't work loose over time. Good luck moving the bow stop. Is your's welded on? If so you would want to double check it before finishing those new welds!

Mike,
Do you know if your bow stop is original or has it been modified?

Mike,

I added a winch fixture to my 88' trailer. Check the link below and their are some pictures of how the turnbuckle is attached to the trailer.
