Hey guys,
I'm looking for some info on a PCM "Pro Ski" engine. I know it's an injected chev base, but are they a 305 or 350.? What are these motors like.? |

chopper, if unsure, on the flywheel housing boss you will find a 7 digit casting number to identify the block...then go to Google

I thought that the Pro Ski was Ford 351 without the gt40 heads. The 98 brochure lists 3 Ford options and an Apex as the only offering from GM, but doesn't have any names for the 260hp 351.

Chopper,
What kind of info are you looking for? Keep in mind I am in Melbourne next month for the Moomba and will be more than happy to bring in small items that you may need. Jody |

You are talking about the 5.0L, 305 ci, 275 hp base engine offered in 2000,2002 and 2003 correct? (according to the brochures)
No, I don't have any info... The PCM ProSki was a 5.8L Ford in the early/mid 90s. I don't have any info on this one either! |

The original ProSki (94-95) was the TBI version of the non-HO 351w. (Both the TBI and carb'd HO versions were called ProBoss).
I do believe the ProSki came back in the late 90's or early 2000's as a Chevy... if I had to guess, Id say it was the 260-270hp 305. |

I have a chevy based Pro Ski in my 96. It is a 350, 275 hp TBI for this year. I don't know about any other years though. I called correct craft when I bought it 2 yrs ago and they had the build sheet and gave me the info. They were very helpful.

HW, I will be back home late tuesday, so I will post the serial # then. I do know it is the PLL TBI in the 1996 owners manual. From the copy in the reference section it shows Chevy 350/5.7L 275 hp.

Interesting, I wasn't aware there was a 5.7L engine in between the PLH-carb'd one of the 80s and the PLA-MFI Apex. Of course this info was sitting in our Diaries section this whole time! I see there are two PLLs, a TBI and carb.

HW,
Yes I was enquiring if it is a 305 or 350. I knew the 2000 vintage were available with a 305 but couldn't find info on earlier models. I checked the diaries & couldn't see it in the brochures. I guess they're 275hp 350's then as it's in a 97. ![]() |

Jody that is for 2004 when they called it the ProSport. I can't tell if the 5.0 had a name before 2004, how about "ProSlow"??
In 1997, as seen in the reference section, the 275hp engine was 350 ci. It is the same as dsla's engine, and is PLL TBI "ProSki". |

Hi Everybody,
I'm going to hash up this old thread as I'm currently looking at a boat with this 5.7 in it. Obviously, the GT40 would be better, but if I'm just a little slower, quite honestly I think I can live with that. If the engine is less reliable though, I don't think I would want to live with that. Does anybody have any further opinons on this engine? http://www.ski-it-again.com/cgi-bin/photo.cgi?Photo=sia19616img2.jpg&Width=640&Height=478&Title=19616%20Ski%20Nautique%20(open%20bow)%20by%20Correct%20Craft |

The 5.7 faster than the GT40? Is that what your'e saying?
dsla - The engine I'm looking at is the 1997 proski efi just like the top picture that hollywood posted. Unfortunately, I'm new to this forum, and an idiot, so I'm not sure how to embed a pic in here like you guys are doing. How have you liked your engine? Has it been reliable? Is it even close to being a powerful enough engine? What altitude are you at? I'm at 4500 feet. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=19616 |

Peter, Maybe you are thinking of the 5.7 Apex when you say it will be faster?
Everything I can find on the 5.7 Proski (1997) that I'm looking at is saying 350, 275HP like dsla and hollywood are saying. That's not the 5.7 that you are saying is going to be faster...right? |

"Hi, my name is Steve and I have a Chevy engine in my boat".... Peter, maybe we should start a "Bowtie support group"? There are so few of us around with the early Bowties.... well.... sometimes I just feel like we so mis-understood. ![]() |
