Loose Swim Platform Brackets

   I bought my first Nautique last fall and I'm getting it ready for the season.  I removed the swim platform for refinishing and I've noticed that a couple of the brackets are loose.  The bottom screw in one of them looks to be stripped out and loose...the previous owner tried to add a plastic anchor at some point.  Has anyone else run into this and found a good way to remedy it?  I don't want water going in there and getting into the stringers any more than it may already have.  

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

	I would think you have one of 2 choices... either fill the hole on the boat (the proper way would be to dig out access to it from inside and patch it with glass) and then the screw should hold, OR drill out the platform bracket for a slightly larger screw. Either way, Id seal the holes with 5200 when you reinstall. Ideally, the brackets would be through bolted instead of lagged... but that creates a much bigger project.

	My bracket lag fasteners were also loose when I purchased my boat. Since new to the industry I wasn't comfortable with glass, so I removed the bolt and bracket, drilled the hole out a couple of bit sizes larger then filled with a ten minute, semi hard epoxy I found at my lumber yard. Then I drilled new holes into the epoxy for the original lags that were in it. I was always cautious of people bouncing on it or two many people on it at first, but soon forgot about it as it proved to hold up to what we were doing with it.

	I heard this, but didn't try it while I was redoing my floor a few years ago. If you put a screw with a lite coat of grease into uncured epoxy when it is cured you have a threaded hole. Might be hard to do on a vertical surface.
