Carb Question?

I took the boat out yesterday for the first time this year. It ran perfect except for when came into the cove and we were idling around waiting for a dock space it acted like it was loading up. When you put it into gear it would stumble and try to die (and did twice), but when I put it in neutral I could clean it out but it didnt act like it was loaded up. What should I have the idle set at? I also wanted to know if anyone has used an Edelbrock carb on a boat? We use these on our hot rods and they work perfect.   Thanks

Unless that carb is very level, it will run like azz.

And stick with the marine stuff, you don't want to explain to your guests how you saved $100 too bad their face is burned off.

I thought of that after the fact there could be a little something in the fuel. It has been a long winter! Iam going to take it out again and put new gas in it before we do anything.

I never thought of checking the manifold gaskets. I guess that could cause that. I may start with a carb re-build and go from there. Thanks

Well good point, I dont want to make a simple fix turn into having a bad summer at the lake!

+1 on what 79 said. You may want to make sure the choke is turning off all the way.

Hey Chris, the top of the carb, you can take the top of the carb off to see in there.You will see fuel correct. How much do you want to see in there? I bet with my little problem, my boat is getting to much fuel when it is hot. The hard cranking problem. We will see Wednesday, I am heading to the lake then.

I never said I was the fastest boat,you guys need to listen.I just said mine runs with best of them. Which could mean that not the 454's or the one's that have dumped lots of time and money in there's. Not bigger heads, and all that fancy ***************. But for a bone stock 351, mine is very healthy. I am not that stupid to even think of saying some of these Nautiques on here, that I can out run them. I know I get laughed at. I have a good mechanic in Austin that is a friend of mine, and knows my boat in and out.He has told me many times that it is one of the best looking and running Natiques he services.

I love boats, I grew up on direct inboard boats, and love mine dearly.It is my first one, as I can see some of you guys are die hards and own several generation CC.I am think you guys are great, but damb, can I get some help when I ask a question. Instead of being bad mouthed and cut down. If not, that is fine, I can take my Nautique problems and enjoyment elsewhere. I do not want too, this is the best site. I hope we can all get along and one day we will all get to sit down and drink a cold one and talk CC.
