I forgot to drill the hole for the steering cable mount. 86 sn I have no clue where it should go and want to drill now so I can get a couple of coats of epoxy while I am doing the layup. I guess I need the measurement from the back and also the height?
Thanks Mike

Just a thought- but you may want to consider mounting the clamp block to something else while youre in there? Later boats had a bracket mounted to the top side of the strut bolts that the clamp block mounted to. Just a thought.

If no one comes up with a dimension for you, if you put the hole in the ballpark of the strut, that should get you close enough to center the steering.

Temporarily hook up the steering. Center the helm which will be the center of the inner cable stroke. Center the rudder and you should be able to see where the clamp block should go.

Thanks,
I have not seen one mounted to the strut bolt but it sounds very good. If anyone has a picture that would be great.

Take a look at Tim's BFN rebuild thread. A good picture is towards the end/recent.

I looked and there isnt a great picture- but you can see it if youre looking for it. This one is a little better.

Just a large piece of angle aluminum will get the job done. We did use extra long strut bolts though.
