Throttle Not Responding

I was out yesterday on my 2004 226 Air and after pulling a rider my throttle stopped responding like it does normally. I would engage it and instead of responding like normal i would have to push it down all the way before i could get any power or speed. I ran it like this for awhile and then after stopping and restarting it returned to normal somewhat. Still didn't feel like normal though. Any suggestions--did a cable go out or did something come loose that needs to be tightened? thanks
