A terrible tragedy today. Driver ran over 9 yr old boy at our ski club lake.

The mom was in the boat at the time.

No words can express my sadness for the family & also the driver.

Oh man I hate to hear this kind of thing. As a parent I cannot imagine the loss of a young child, and as driver I cannot imagine being responsible for such a terrible accident. Its rare to hear these kinds of stories where the driver was experienced and sober. Just goes to show that safety has got to always be number 1 on the boat-ALWAYS.

Tragic for everyone.
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

Probably the worst nightmare for those of us w/ children this age on the water. Our family's thoughts and prayers go out to his family & the driver.

Chris, any details on exactly how this happened? Any lessons to be learned or re-emphasized?

Awful tragedy, my thoughts and are with his family and friends. Here is the news story that gives a little insight to how it happened. Got to be aware where everyone is ALL of the time. So sad to see accidents like this.

My local Show Ski Team had our last show on Friday. We opted to send every dollar we collected in our donations to the Peterson family memorial fund. We made over $600.00 which is twice as much as we normally average.

Obviously nothing to replace the young boys life, but hopefully some to help with any expenses due. Too sad.

I've been skiing with a retired waterhawk the past few weekends so it was interesting to hear what he had to say about the accident. I guess the driver has been extremely dedicated to the team for a long period of time and comes back to Iowa in the summers from his home in Florida just to drive the ski team. From what my buddy said, he's an extremely nice guy and obviously an experienced driver.

It's a wake up call to all of us to be sure we stay sharp when behind the wheel or in the boat spotting or skiing.

My deepest sympathy to the family and driver.

Myself, my family, and the Spray Masters Show Ski Team send our sympathy and prayers to the family of the young skier, the driver, and the rest of the Waterhawks team/family. Out last show, this past Thursday, we took time to discuss this accident, and reinforce how complicated it can be on the water, practice or show.
Play hard, life's not a trial run.

Fear of this is one reason I raised my drivers seat. I never like anything between my eyes and the water except some sun glasses.

The WaterHawks went ahead with their season finale, at the request of the family. I couldn't make it but understand it was very heartfelt.
