Looking for an original trailer & ski pylon for my recently acquired '76 Southwind! What years & models of trailers will work for this boat? Also, looking for an original ski pylon.

I've got a buddy with an early 70's southwind. Original trailer, interior, and a rebuilt 318. He's asking 3K? but would take 2,500 for the whole thing. Probably not exactly what you're looking or but figured I'd pass along the word.

Welcome to the site neighbor. I think I saw that boat, was it on craigs list? Red? Sorry, I am of no help on what you are looking for, but this site is a great resource, someone will steer you in the right direction.

I'd be interested in talking more about that as an option. Any possibility of seeing some pictures?

Yes, it was on Craigslist. It was up in Medina, needs some detailing but in relatively good shape.

Being new to Correct Crafts, is a 1985 Martinique one of the last styles of the boat? Is the depth of the V hull similar to my 76 Southwind? I saw a trailer for sale in Michigan on this site that was from a 1985 Martinique.

Here are a few photos of Jeff's Southwind. Not sure how long they will stay up since I stole the link from Craigslist. Seems like a pretty solid boat, trailer and the motor has been rebuilt. He is going to put an original intake back on the boat since the PO put on an aftermarket Edelbrock which might have led to a cooling issue, thus the rebuild.
If you want to send me an email through the site I can give you his information. He just picked up another project so he's motivated to sell it before the weather gets cold. |

I can't find a picture of an 85 martinique but the 86 martinique is a yes if they are the same. We had a 78 southwind open bow on a martinique trailer growing up

I hope to see it some day, it looked like a nice boat. Do you boat on Minnetonka? The southwind would be a little better suited to the open lake than my 2001. |

Yes, I do boat on Minnetonka. I'd be happy to show you the boat. Who do you have do your service work on your Correct Craft in our area? How well do you know Southwinds? I'll pass on my phone number and maybe you could give me a call and answer some more questions I have.

Oops, mistakenly thought the trailer was from a Martinique, it's actually from a 1985 Ski Nautique. Wondering if that trailer would work on my '76 Southwind?

I DO NOT think a Ski Nautique trailer would work for a Southwind.

Me neither. You'll need a #4 trailer for a Southwind. Those went through a few changes throughout their run (early 70's through ~1990), but came under all of the 18-20' v-hulls, from the SW, to the BFN's, Martiniques, etc. The frame rails on a #4 are parallel in the area where the bunks meet the hull. The #3 trailers (which came under 17-19' flat bottoms like the Ski Nautiques) have a true wishbone shape, and would probably allow you to get a strake hung up on the bunk- potentially causing damage. Theres also a good chance that the crossmembers would not have sufficient clearance for the running gear on a v-hull. |

MTKA,
I have a 1988 #4 Correct Craft Martinique trailer (which is the heavy duty version of the original trailer for your boat) under my Shamrock fishing boat I'm thinking of selling if my boat will fit on a roller trailer I have. The Correct Craft trailer is in very good condition but doesn't look it. It's faded burgundy and brown primer, it needs painted. But, it has new tires, new galvanized wheels, new bearings and races, and a prop guard. If you're interested, email me at: sam5744720@yahoo.com Sam |

Greg, I can vouch for Sam, I bought the motor that is in my Skinautique from him. The purchase was a very pleasent experience.
