I have been looking for "2001" ski nautiques. This one came up about a month or two ago and this guy has not lowered his price at all.

It has really low hours and that scares me because I imagine it went through long periods where it was not used. What are you thoughts on the price and on buying a boat with such low hours? I would ideally like to buy a 2001 for about 7k-8k.

TIA for helping a newbie. This will be my first boat purchase.

That is a little on the high side but if it is as nice as he says, it could be worth it. Is he the original owner? Have you asked why so few hours? What happened to the letters on the side? I dont think engines were painted blue from the factory? Not sure though?

I paid $7500 for my 89 SN, 2001. It was garaged and unused since 1994 and there were 180 hour on it. I thought the price was about average.

Looks like its in good shape, however, I also question why the engine is blue. They were silver from the plant in those days. Also, what happened to the graphics? Just a couple things that I would dig into.

PleasureCraft Marine were Silver.
Commander Marine were Dk. Blue.
I would also question the Hour Meter.

Could not disagree more.

My grey, 1986, 2001 Nautique with a reupholstered interior and new carpet with 820 or so hours cost me $8,500.

If the boat is as so9lid as it appears, it's a steal. Weigh it to be sure. Trailer should weigh about 950 pounds. If the boat has saturated foam, it will weigh substantially more than the 2500 pound dry weight.

What is the difference in the Commander Marine vs the PleasureCraft Marine?

Looks like an 85 or 86 to me. I think in those days, the graphics (with the exception of some pinstriping) were all gelcoat. Maybe the main stripe was painted? If so, that would effect the price big time for me. I thought CC was pretty much using PCM exclusively by this vintage, but others will come along to confirm. The interior looks very nice and very original to me.

The '86 is a side decal and pinstripe. Only the base color is gel. The coloring looks correct...just needs decals. The engine is a commander (shows in the picture). My '86 is a PCM (silver). Don't know if the Commander was an option in '86. What year does he claim it to be?

not sure of all of the differences but I know the Commander has the low profile exhaust and PCM has the exhaust that has the riser that goes up above the valve covers.

I took a look at this boat today and it was not what I expected.

Trailer needed new tires, the boat had a section of it replaced, there was a pretty decent gouge on the hull. It was about the size of 2 quarters. There were some more deep scratches on the top of the boat. It needs a new fuel filter as well.

He said he would go down to 7,000. I probably won't go with this one.
