I am re-doing my 23 fish nautique steering. i put teleflex no feedback steering in there about 5 years ago. it never really worked well. i could not ever get the boat to turn enough at low speeds.
looking for some advice on the rudder size, mine may be too small and some expert advice or experience on what steering to install. dont really want to install hydraulic thanks |

Taylor,
Did the new Teleflex have the same stroke as the old? Maybe it doesn't and you are not turning the rudder far enough? Did you check it? Did you connect it up to the original tiller arm? What was wrong with the original system? CC did use extra stroke cables on some models! I wouldn't go looking for an over sized rudder until you figure out what's going on with that Teleflex. New in some cases is not always better! Welcome to CCfan. How about some pictures! We love them as well as an diary entry. |

hi, im actually not not new!
here is my boat: http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forsale/details.asp?ID=2858&sort=&pagenum=1 it was similar to the old system when i put it in 5yrs ago. it is connected to the old tiller arm. the original system would drift that is why i put the nfb in. it was also loose. according to teleflex correct craft made a custom cable that had 10.5" of throw that is different than the standard 8.5" now. still hunting it down. any help is welcome. t |

Taylor,
I'm glad to find out you are not new and have been around for awhile. You just not must post very much! However, you do need to know how to link here on CCfan. Here's your link to your Fish Regarding the steering problem, does the new system have the same throw as the original? If shorter and you connected it to the original tiller arm, you will not get the same rudder movement. What is the "drift" you were encoundering with the original? Fill us in. Maybe some tuning of the rudder? Why am I getting the feeling that a marina salesman sold yo something that was nether needed or correct for the application? |

Re-building a Fish myself i decided to get away from cable type steering system and picked up a SeaStar system. Really the way to go and is a modern replacement for troublesome cable steering. |
