What about the hull number makes you think its that early? If they were using the same sequential digits for all boats on that hull and just varying the prefix (which seems plausible) then Id say it was a good bit newer than that. My sister's late '68/early '69 (still unconfirmed which it is) is 2381. My uncle's '68 is 2359.

That hump appeared in '67 and stayed through '70.

Really nice clean up job. Nothing like that old thick gel coat.

I love slant sixes. We tried for almost and hour to blow one up and could never get her to blow. We gave up and pulled in out and sold it to another guy. Last I saw he was still driving the truck...that was almost ten years ago.

Great find and save.

Still can't believe how well that thing cleaned up! Will you have it on display at the Demo Day?

I totally forgot to look at my ID plate again this morning. I'll snap a few pictures on my way to the lake tonight.

I'd think this would draw some attention! Maybe we should start a "guest list" so everyone can see what will be on display!

I hope the lake level at the RES cooperates for the Correct Craft Demo Day! I think a guest list would be a great idea.

I just heard back from Correct Craft on the truth to the year of my skier. She is a 1970, below is the information that Correct Craft provided me. Maybe this info will help some CCFs on determining the years of different Skiers and Mustangs in the future.

Invoice information on the boat:

Engine set 9/8/69. Invoiced to Midwest Correct Craft on 9/10/69, $2595 plus “Comfort Group” at $64. Engine S/N E043908, 155 Chrysler with 1:1 Warner transmission. Candy apple red hull with ivory deck.

It was interesting that some of the boats in that serial number range are Mustangs. 2702 was a Mustang, 703, 704, and 705 are Skiers.

I know that the Skier came standard with a tow pylon and a rear-facing passenger seat, the Mustang did not. Other than that, I don’t recall any differences. Most, but not all, Mustangs had V8 engines.

Very cool!

Still haven't gotten out to the barn to look at my ID plate.

The only other differences I've seen are the hardware and vents on the deck.

If I had to guess, for the years that the Skier was offered below the 1st gen Mustang (~'69-70), the pylon, rear facing observer seat and pylon would all have been standard options on both boats. I would say that only the early Mustangs were available with lower option packages (4 or 6cyl engines, lack of ski pole, etc). Just a guess!

Chris,
How about the interior hull sides? I seem to remember the Skier's were just painted.

My 1970 Skier does have factory side compartments. They are in very poor condition but still enough to get a pattern off of.

The 2nd gen skiers were painted...or maybe Gel? Mine has the same compartments as Marty is talking about and I believe Marshal's Mustang?

I think it was the early Mustangs, etc that may have had painted sides. By the 2nd gen Skier, the walls were gelled.

BTW, I think its cool they put a special glass motorbox in those things! The narrower box may have made it a little easier to move around?

At least I checked out the diaries!

Topic: 1970 "SKIER"PARTS NEEDED!
    Posted: Today at 1:26pm

I need a ski pylon and a metal (chrome) CORRECT CRAFT emblem for my 1970 Skier. I may be intersted in other parts as well, it would be great to find a Correct Craft trailer that was from the early 70's. Please include pictures and price on anything for sale! Thanks
