Just bumping up this thread to check on my order...
What's the status on those lenses Dean?

Thanks in advance.

The samples I got had some problems. I am told they have been fixed and are in production. Should be soon! The pointers looked very nice.

I was told the mold has been polished and a different type of glass used.

The gauge below the photo you copied is the same gauge restored. I do not know why the pointer looks so dark but it is the correct Airguide orange. I have done worse!

Yes, only problem is waiting for the glass. But hopefully that wait is about over.
Contact me at coolboats@classsicboatwork.com, I don't know how to PM or find your email.
Thanks,
Dean

Djeez... Suddenly realized it's half december and I forgot my monthly bump on this thread!!

Hi Dean, it's that annoying Belgian again...
How are things on your side? Lenses coming along?

The boat is winterized now. I took the right speedometer out of the dash and brought it to a friend who's a jeweler.
I could not get the adjustment knob off, because the little "thingy" in the knob is worn and rusted.
So I brought it to my buddy the jeweler who has more appropriate tools to get it out and I was afraid I might break something.

You are not nearly as annoying as this lens process has become. I have asked where we are a couple times lately with no reply. Me thinks they are having big time problems which I don't understand. I will try again and let you know as soon as I know something.

I assume the "thingy" is the set screw? Probably have to be drilled.

Yes that's it, the set screw. Thanks Dean.
I'll let my buddy take care of that

This is the response I got

"In the coming week we will send you fresh samples with our last try on these lenses.... Else we will return the balance of your money"

If this doesn't work I may have to try to have plastic lenses made. What do you all think of that?

I think plastic lenses would also do the trick...
Better than broken ones anyway

Dean, how long to restore my airguides on my 1978? Pointers need paint, new black faces, one is pitted a bit. Lenses are fine.

Paul,
I assume that means you have the 4 color dial with chrome case.
Please contact me at coolboats@classicboatwork.com for a quote.

yes you are correct....they look the same as Drcc's in the pic.

Lenses are fine.....chrome is a bit faded and a few pits here and there.

What you are getting are some NOS I recently found. Once again the producer says new samples are on the way... We shall see.
Boy.. international postal rates more than doubled in the last few weeks..
Now we hold our breath and hope they arrive in one piece!
Thank you,
Dean

Hi Dean, Tim just sent me the link to this post, I need two lenses and one pointer knob for my 1989. My lenses are plastic so I would be fine with plastic.
