77 Ski Tique Floor

Hello All,

We noticed this year that the floor in our 77 Ski Tique is starting to get a little soft in a few areas. I wanted to see if anyone had any information to offer, pros or cons of replacing the floor yourself. I am very handy when it comes to carpentry and have a decent amount of experience with fiberglass. My one concern would be replacing stringers if it is needed.

Any thoughts, pictures, pains or general comment would be greatly appreciated.

I concur with Tim. You need stringers.

I wont be starting this project until the fall, however, I have found in many of the posts, that the correct lumber can be difficult to find. From what I have been reading, Douglas Fit is the wood of choice for the primary stringers, what should I use for the secondary on a 77 Tique?

I would like to start the research now so I can have all of my materials lined up when its time to start.

Does anyone have a suggestion for foam?

Doug Fir can be hard to locate depending on the part of the country you are in but not impossible. We do have one member who is in the final stages of doing a stringer job with LVL. It turned out fantastic. The Doug Fir is idea for both primary and secondary but not absolutely needed for the secondaries. Common pine is fine since I suggest CPES and epoxy that will seal up the wood.
