Hello all,
Added GT40P heads to my 86' Ski Nautique. It added more power "feel" however I did not notice any gain on the top end overall speed. I only changed the heads, no intake, cam etc.... For the Do it your-selfers. You can hand drill out the head bolt holes to the larger 1/2" required for the 351W head bolts, that is with the understanding you are handy with tools...... you can use the orig. pushrods also, Basically new gaskets and heads and it will come together. So after $500.00 was it worth it you ask???? Well if you buy the heads right, and do the work yourself I would say yes. The new heads will have hardened valve seats and a good head design for when you add more power adders. Cam, Intake ETC. |

Wow, you must have a strong grip. I assume you stepped 1 size up per pass. Great advice, if you needed a top end refresh anyway, you got the better heads for basically same price. |

Funny, No drilled using 1/2 bit one time.... Had the clutch set on the Milwaukee though. As I was doing it I didn't have a great feeling.. Only relaxed once they were installed on the block!!!

Where did you get your GT40p heads? I have one cracked head and am on the fence about what to get.

I got the heads off off ebay, I had to remove a couple intake studs that were broken off, and replace valve seals... its always buyer beware with ebay, on this deal all was ok for me.

500 in a set of used heads? Thats the problem going used. You could have gone hereinstead. When I got mine in '09 they were even new castings. New valves new, springs, tell them it's for a 351 the'll come drilled ready to bolt on you can't go wrong. Clearwater Cylinder Heads is another source.
