Recently purchased a 2001 SN 1986 model, and the engine/trans detail information decal on the valve cover is worn away. I have the model/serial number tag information but after reviewing the PCM owners manual there is not a decoder which helps me determine if this is the 351, 302/2 or 302/4 model. Need to determine correct engine/carb configuration so that I can order parts for a carb rebuild kit. Can anybody help? Point me to a serial number decoder?

FYI I located the Motocraft Carb ID number plate. It states EOJL-9510-CA which equates to a Holley 4BBL specifically for a 351W motor. Can anyone help confirm this?

to determine the carb number, you'll need to look at the carb itself.   Take a look at the top right of the carb. you can't read the numbers in the picture below, but you can see them... they should be in the same location on your carb.   there are more numbers on the drivers side of the carb also that could give you a clue as to which rebuild kit to order. Ski dim or My correctcraft parts could both help you to get the holley OEM rebuild kit. 2 barrel or 4 barrel is easy to deterimin, look down the throat of the carb and count the "barrels"   the one shown below is a 4 bbl, you can see two of the bbls in the photo, the other two are lower and are on the back side

It is a 4BBL Holley, the numbers in that location are as follows:

LIST-1850-3
0657

According to the Holley site this makes it a 600 CFM unit.

Anyone with thoughts on confirming the engine size/model?

Welcome Chris. Don't go by the number on the tag-go by the
List # on the airhorn like in the picture below.Also when
you ask about a kit make sure it has the secondary diaphram
too some kits do not have it. The power valve in the new
kits need to be changed,you want a 6.5 not the newer 2.5.
Holley kits are one of the best,some others have gone here
to get their kits.

Thanks guys. Ordered the rebuild kit, secondary diaphragm and 6.5 power valve using the LIST number.

OP,   Glad you got it figured out! my holley rebuild was pretty smooth, not a lot there. If you haven't done a marine holley before, you will need the special bit for the metering block... I don't remember what it was called, but if you do a search on here, my rebuild thread has the special tool name in it. also, the J tubes in your carb have to come out to remove the butterflies, they come straight up by tapping a very small flatblade into between the carb body and the bulb in the tube.   work it out by tapping and prying, but do not twist, you will break the j tube...

I've been using Acad professionally since R9, I am currently on ACA2011 and if I had a screenshot of my screen from R9 it would probably look much like it does today. I use keyboard shortcuts and no toolbars.

Finally got around to rebuilding that carb...turned out the electric choke was burned up...of course that doesn't come in the kit...ugh. New problem, I noticed some foam in the oil...looks like I'll be replacing some head gaskets! Great news...

I still have not identified the correct engine size and year so I can't order the parts. A little help??

Here's what the PCM Engine data plate says:

Model: PRD WR R10
Serial: 252 978
Firing Order: 18456273

5Y45101F45F4E

Can anybody help me identify the engine size and year?
