Still trying to get my first nautique. Now have my eyes on a 1999 Air Nautique with Proboss GT40 (1800hrs). Boat has been well looked after and serviced regularly. A few questions for the wealth of knowledge out there: 1. Is 1800hrs on a well serviced motor still ok? 2. What HP is this motor? 3. Looking for a family boat but with a good slalom wake, can anyone confirm the hull on this boat? Hope you can get some pics off the following link.

1800 is on the high side, but if well maintened and after doing a compression test, if the results are good I wouldn´t rule it out.
gt40 engines are rated 310hp.

I have a 99 Air Nautique and really love it. Good for both wakeboarding and slalom.

If it has been well serviced and it checks out good it still depends on how sweet the deal is. Hours are just like high miles on a car to a potential buyer.

I wouldn't shy away from high hours. My uncle's sport has roughly the same amount of hours with mediocre care taking. Boat still runs awesome and we ski behind it regularly.

[QUOTE=jbach][ interesting. was the tower an option on an air nautique back in '99]

Tower was an option when I got my '98 and I would guess an option in '99 as well.

Actually I think the 98 Sport/Air was the first boat to have a tower fitted period.
If you're going through hell, keep going

That sounded right to me when you said it. I checked the history timeline on Nautiques.com. It looks like it was actually 97. How many actually got them that year, who knows.

1997 had the FCT on it originally. We just had a black one in our shop with an Apex in it. Fast boat.

Hahahaha    I just thought he was trying to get Pete's approval to install an "OEM" style tower on an 81.

Had a 99', agree it was a great all around boat.

Hrs are definitely high (almost 140hrs per yr average). Generally a properly cared for motor should run 2500-3000hrs before needing a rebuild, depending on your use, that could be 10+ yrs.

Tower was an option and you could do any graphics. The 430hp Python was also an option @ about 6k.

Thanks for all the interesting feedback. Can anyone tell me which hull the 99 Air Nautique has?

It is referred to as a stretched TSC hull by Correct Craft. Air is just an options package on the Sport. This hull ran from 98-02. The "Pro" Air is a unique hull.

Thank you. How does the 99 Air compare to the 2006 SN206 (a boat that I know fairly well)?

Less expensive? There a handful of threads that already breakdown that exact comparison.

When similarly equipped (weight, tower, etc.) the 206 slalom wake is a little better.
Biggest difference IMO is tracking/handling, both are really good but the 206 feels tighter and more precise.

You guys have been awsome with all the info, thank you. I am pretty convinced that the 99 Air is a good boat for us. My son and daughter will struggle a bit running the course at 40 km/h but they won't be there too long before hitting the speeds that produce the good wake.
