I am going to be putting a rear seat in. Would like to see what others have done to get some ideas. Please post some pictures of what is in your 1970 to 1979 SN. Thanks

This is the way the factory did them originally. Upholstered foam for both the back and bottom.

I think I am going to try and make a seat with some storage for ropes and vests. Thinking maybe 7 inches deep and 16 inches wide.

Phil,
You could make an L shaped upholstered foam seat bottom to cover this box you want to make. At least it would look original!!

Nice Job! Did you do your own upholstery? I like the blue piping.

guessing it was 6"-8" (sold boat so can't go measure, sorry).   Had the boat upholstered by a local shop. If my memory serves me right I think I payed about $1100 total (2012)including new foam on rear and observers seat.

I did my own as well in our 77', and I made a storage area underneath. I made the front base 6", and the rear base 3.5 for a more comfortable angled sitting position. I used a thinner high density foam and it turned out really nice. I re-upholstered the entire boat at the same time, and the materials were just under $600 with alot of time involved. Before anyone comments, the skylon front anchor is attached there only for to and from the lake. I have a strap that goes around the bow when the boat is in the water. Thank you

Bryan, I like that interior. I am redoing my 77 SN and will be getting to the upholstery in the winter or next year, but can you please take a few more pictures of your interior and that custom back seat. You can post them or email them. Thanks a lot.

Thanks guys, I started off by pulling the old covers off and making patterns with a little extra hanging over out of old bed sheets. The vinyl will stretch, so you want the patterns precise, and somewhat tight. Then I got the vinyl and made a removable slip cover for my required throw floatation devise/seat pillow since it was the smallest material required. Take your time, because once you sew the vinyl, that piece is ruined if it doesn't fit. I will post.a few more pics later.

I made an elevated rear seat base for my Ski Tique and it came out nice. I carpeted the top so it could be used as a step, and intended to put hinges on the whole base so it could tilt forward to reveal some storage space underneath. In reality, there just isnt that much storage space to be gained back there, and the last thing I decided I needed was another set of hinges to trip over.

Only original style, big vinyl covered foam seats in the back of my vintage boats from now on. Preferably covered in original style vinyl! The new seat I just had made for my '80:

Graham, there is a recent thread on here of a guy with, I think an '81? His rear seat is awesome and I am sooooo gonna steal his design. Tilted back, with cup holders on the sides and the center section removes so skiers can ingress / egress without stepping on the cushions. I had some ideas of my own but this was better. Ill look for the link.

Hi John, yes mate would be interested in seeing that. Progress has been pretty slow with my upholstery since joining fatherhood. Ive finished both drivers seat skins and fitted the base one - am pleased how its coming along but havent started on anything for the back of the boat yet..
