1984 model 2001 with the bad gas sending unit, all finalized. The feed to the unit a pink wire ( may appear to be red ) taken off the post at tank, with power on, grounded to a secure metal base, the gas tank, and the gauge goes to full / full. The boat does have a full tank, but this reading is past full, so I will use the boat until the tank is about 75% empty, and to all of my Polish friends, that means 1/4 full. Kidding loved Pope John, a future Saint. Now onto the Holley carb problem. Starts perfect but goes directly into full throttle. Worked fine last month, always, what has happened ?

I start the engine, cold, and then within 1 second, goes right into full throttle while at neutral, handle upright, no advancement/ forward or towards reverse, with transmission button out.

Holley four barrel. 1984 Ford 351 / electric choke /

I did use carb cleaner all over the moving parts, springs, and internals.

Any suggestions ?

Thank you all for your input with the gas sending unit, and whatever you can add to the Holley full race situation.

B.T.W., David Holley, the son of Holley lives here in Lake Placid, and he is a non racer, no competitor, no cars, no speed, just a good guy. About 65, and he would NEVER say who he is the son of, and I have know him for almost 30 years. Believe it or not, just cannot make this stuff up, go to the white pages, he may still be listed, as he recently had a "friendly " divorce, he may have changed his whereabouts.

That's that Olley.

Thanks again,

Do you know how to disconnect the throttle cable from the carb, if so disconnect it and see if it does it. Sounds like the throttle cable is not letting the butterflies close all the way.
Thanks,

Check to see if throttle return spring on the linkage at the carb itself is broken or even missing.
