About due for new alternator belt on my 1974 T-E 351, can anyone please give me a name/part/size for replacement??

Also not sure the existing belt is correct anyway, seems to go a bit deep into the v-groove, perhaps too narrow? Comments?

On the plus side, took it out yesterday for first time since October. Sat seven months...fired right up and ran like a champ all day long. And this it's 40th birthday year. Gotta love it.

go to Nautiqueparts.com. I just got a kit with both impeller and alt belts... $18. They have a chat feature or your can search their site or call. No relation to me, just gave me good service every time I asked for it.

Jeff,
I'd have to say the belt sitting low in the sheave is just belt wear. After 40 tears, you will get wear!! Also, all belts will not run at the very top (OD) of a sheave. If worse comes to worse, measure the OD of the belt and that will tell you the size of the belt. I suggest running an AX belt which has a 1/2" top width.

1/2" is perfect for the pump but not for the alternator.

I have the same engine. I could get you the gates numbers but mine is still in winter mode, so, it could be a while.

I would just take them off and head to the parts store.
