Here in the states, I am guessing that Propane is only about $0.50 less than gasoline per gallon. And, I believe, Propane has less energy density than Gasoline, so in the long run I doubt there is much of an economic incentive to make the conversion. In Europe, yes. USA, no.

the system i run is a usa made impco system
on mine the fuel injection manifold is removed and it has an edelbroc performer with a propane carb type thing on instead like you say prob not worth the investment in usa but it does run smoother and quieter and with roughly 110 octane rating it doesnt knock and remember carbon and hydrocarbon imissions are about 70% less |

Propane does have the advantage that it wont go bad on you as quick as gas!! But for sure is more than gas and to heat with on the given BTU content per gallon in the U.S.
