Having trouble with my 1995 EFI engine. Starts perfectly, runs great, but when pull into dock and come back 1/2 hour later the engine won't start. Can hear fuel pump engaging. Wait another 1/2 hour and engine starts and runs perfectly. Anybody know anything about this?

Maybe give us some more information. Will it start if you give it full throttle while cranking (effectively shutting off the fuel supply, if engine flooded)? Are both fuel pumps running (maybe relay gets hot and needs to cool before it works again)? I assume it is TBI.

Many times, a faulty crankshaft position sensor can prevent an EFI engine from starting. Some CPS fail when warm/hot.

Full throttle has only started once. Engine roared. Does act as if the fuel pump is not working, but this problem does not happen all the time. What is TBI? Can a CPS fail on a parttime basis? A friend suggested vapor lock--possibility? The inconsistency of the problem has me puzzled. When it happens again, what should I do to help determine the source of the problem. Where is the CPS and how do I check it? This only seems to occur when we have been skiing for 30 minutes or so and then stopping. Engine is not overheating. Many thanks

TBI is Throttle Body Injection. BKH
