Absolutely perfect condition. Mounted the prop and ran for 15 minutes. Wrong for my application. Vendor won't take the prop back. :(

Rob,
I take it you didn't use Delta (site sponsor) since they do take returns (great price too). Who was it?

Delta doesn't take returns if you use it...I called and asked them that over the summer as there were a few different props I was considering.

Sadly, I bought this prop before I found CCFan.com or skidim.com.

It annoys me that most lessons learned come with a co$t...

Sorry to hear that. One of the big reasons we sell and service OJ products. We will take a propeller back and get a customer into the right one,,,Usually the right one the first time.
1868 good for hopped up 2001 model SN's 82-89. Actually running one on our 09 6 liter.............comes out of the hole great! just kinda tops out quick!!! was a back up wheel.
Hobby Boats can be expensive when the hobbyist is limited on their own skill and expertise.

Hi JQ,
I'm considering the 1868 or a 654 for my 98 176, when I need a prop for altitude (5000")
Why didn't the 1868 work for you? From what I've read the 1868 tops out pretty fast, but it seems like a better choice for altitude than the 654.
Thanks,
Don

I typically operate around 4,400 feet. Occasionally I run at 6,500 feet. My engine is the High Output 351 and runs around 290 ponies.

With the 654 operating at 4,400 feet, I get 4,800 to 4,900 RPMs and 43 mph. However, at 6,500 feet, 4,700 to 4,800 is all the RPM I can squeeze out.

Which engine does your 176 have? GT-40 engine?

The GT-40 would turn the 654 nicely. I would expect that W-O-T should be right where PCM says max RPM should be. When I had the 1868 on the boat for 2 ski sets, I had to keep an eye on the tach so as to not over-rev the engine a bit. Hole-shot was outstanding -- so if you want killer hole-shot, the 1868 is pretty nice. Just watch the tach...

Looking back, I should have kept the 1868 as my back-up prop. I don't typically run flat-out so over-revving wouldn't be all that big of a problem.
