Hey All,
My GT40 powered 99 Air Nautique has a temp gauge that moves up to 185 then back to 160 over maybe a 3 to 5 minute cycle. No temps are being exceeded, its just that it has only started it over the past month or so. Is it anything I should be worried about??

Tom,
Mark has a good point. If his question is what is happening, the temp swing is normal.

Out of 2 PCM's and 1 HM I have never seen them swing a 25 degree change except on shut down. Something is up especially if it's hasn't done it before. Get yourself a IR thermometer and check it while it's happening and go from there.

Check the impeller. Get a pair of gaskets and compare both thermostats in a pot of water on the stove. Science project for the boys!

A 25deg fluctuation on a PCM is a little above what id prefer to see. A cooling system in good shape wouldn't see that big of a swing. That's assuming the temp is going up after a hard run and return to idle. No other scenario should cause any fluctuations at all.

I guess it was a bad thermostat. Replaced it with a new gasket, and all is well.
Thanks Guys,
