Can someone walk me through the procedure of checking the timing on my 1991 Barefoot? 454 with pro tech system. I have a basic timing light and have done a non protech before (been awhile). I have read some here about the 351 Ford motor but just want to be sure I know hat I am doing first. Thanks!
I assume I need to find the #1 cylinder and get it to TDC, then maybe unplug the knock sensor? |

Checking timing? Just connect the light to plug wire #1 and point it towards the timing marks on the balancer. Check initial and final, noting both total advance and the rpm at which it's all in.
Setting timing with the protec is a little different but let's not get ahead of ourselves. |
