Ok going Sat to test drive the 1991 Excel I found here in NC he told me it had 330 hr on the boat but when I looked at it there was only 273 hr . I have a 1990 S/N now that I love but I have always liked the Excel . Is there any thing I should be looking at that might be a red flag . I know boats well and have worked on my own S/N . I just don't know about the Excel .We got our 1990 after seeing one in the Teal color that year in Calloway Gardens . The next year   they had Teal Excel there and I always wanted one . Looks like this might be my chance.

Depends what you are after. There was a pretty good assessment of excels posted recently. Steve (air206) who has owned one had a lot of good information, but I cant look for the thread right now. Like I said, depends what you are looking for. A general family recreation boat, the excel is, well, excellent. It does many thing ok. But it doesn't do anything great. If you are a good slalom skier, you will be disappointed, big wakes. If you are a boarder, you will be disappointed, the v-hull is not good for wakes and they are mushy, If you are a footer, you will be disappointed, its sluggish. But if you are just a family who wants to get out and have a good time on the water and are not overly concerned about performance in any of the aforementioned areas, I think they are cool boats. Let us know what you think after the test drive.

Thanks for the info I am ready to drive it, should get a good sense of how it handles because I will drive my 1990 S/N to his dock.

The rear engine makes the wake mushy for boarders?
