which carb kit?

I'm going to rebuild the carb on my 88 pcm 454.
list number is 80262.
which i show as a 4160-1

from what i gather the marine carbs are a different rebuild kit for whatever reason.
on summit i get multiple part numbers for that carb though and the prices are all over the place.
I get the 703-34, 703-33, 703-47,

which is the right kit?

Why not call Holley's tech support line and get the info right from the source?

Not to be a smart@$$ but I agree with Gary. I was surprised but my dealings with Holley customer service were quite well and simple.... Didn't even have to "press 1 for English".

Yup, what Gary said. They'll be able to confirm that you have a proper 650cfm marine 4160 as well. If you don't, you'll need more than a renew kit!

This made me a little curious, so I did some Google time...On the Holley website, there is no 4160 marine carburetor with 650 CFM. There is a 650 CFM carburetor (PART# 0-80552) that is a 4175. There are several 4160 models in 450, 600 & 750 CFM. Additionally, there are 4150's in 600, 750, 800 & 850 CFM.

I wonder if the 4160 in 650 CFM has been discontinued? I know that skidim shows a 4160 Holley in 650 CFM.

I checked with QuickFuel and all thier carbs that are 650 CMF and larger are based on the 4150 Holley design.

I was also a little surprised that a big-block 454 had a 650 CFM as standard. I was expecting a 700 or 750 double-pumper.

I did not do any of said google time with my numbers, I simply called the place i normally get carbs from and when i gave him the list number he said it came up as a 4160 650cfm.and that the marine renew kits came up different than the standard. So i figured i would post up and see what the deal was in case any members here have been through this at one point or another.

I will try and call holley tomorrow. I was also surprised it was a 650. what carb are those guys with the 454 running? I am pretty sure this one is an OE carb. Maybe a new 750 would be a better option than a rebuild. I really don't want to spend the money at this time though. I'll post up what i find out from holley

If you decide to go with a new unit, I recommend that you give consideration to the QuickFuel line-up.

Their M-750 is a very nice unit. It's $621 at Summit Racing

The Holley equivalent is $605

If you go new, the 650cfm quick fuel would be the best choice for a stock 454. 750 is too much carb for a 4400rpm motor.

I would rebuild the 650 holley for now, it does the job just fine. Too many potential variations in gaskets based on LIST number- go with the kit that Holley recommends. Tell them you'd like a kit with the blue reusable gaskets.

Thanks jonny I will check out the quick fuel carbs for future use but I have to say I have never had any issues with all of my holleys, so i will probably stick with the tried and true.
plus i have boxes full of holley parts so next time a metering plate corrodes or some hardware gets ruined i'm in good shape.

TRBenj, the blue gaskets are a must, i second that.Also I have found that the bowl bolts tend to want to be a LOT tighter than you would normally feel comfortable tightening a bolt of that size. but if you've ever taken one of those bowls or meter blocks and put them to a flat plate it all makes sense.

The qf650 is intriguing because the idle fuel orifices are accessable, removable and therefore serviceable, unlike being hidden on the Holley. Uniually the first thing to plug up.

Appears the qf600 doesn't have this feature.

I'll have to read up on those a bit more. i took a quick look this morning at the site, it looks like it is a holleyor at least modeled after one. but it has a few features that make it a little more desirable. it looks like it has 4 corner adjustments too. which is always a plus.

you guys were right holley was pretty good to deal with.
when i first called it said 25 minute wait so i opted to leave a message figuring i would hear back at the end of the day but the feller who called me back, (about 25 minutes after i left the message) said they return messages in same order as when they call. I thought that was mighty nice.
anyways turns out the carb kit for the 80262 is the 703-28
