2006 SN 196 Ebay Shouldn't this be going for more? Or does this smell like an ebay scam?

I did a reverse google image search and found the same pictures Here as well

***Edit** This has to be a scam. Found it on these shady sites as well:

I'd say it's probably a scam, buyer has sold 5 pair of shoes on Ebay. Now they are selling a boat for 9k. Account is less than a month old.

Message the seller and see if they will allow you to look at the boat in person. See if you can get them on the phone. An legit buyer would take a call and be able to discuss the boat.

I didn't plan on buying it or even bidding, just wanted to see what everyone here thought. The price seemed way too low

I've seen a lot of "too good to be true" priced boats online and the minute you ask about payment they respond with a story about a divorcee selling the boat and she'll send you an email with a paypal link

Looks suspicious

While we are at it, should I send this Prince in Nigeria, who contacted me out of the blue, 5k so that he can free up his funds and share his 50.000.000.000 USD with me?

I'm gonna say it's a scam bc it's the 14th time I've seen it listed at a bargain price in over a year.

May be a scam - may not be. One ad was in Columbus, Georgia and the other indicated the boat was in Texas. Columbus is a military town - Ft. Benning - large Army post. Could be a soldier trying to sell it for what he owes on it to keep form having to move it or to unload it prior to a planned deployment.

Golden rule: Free shipping =scam. Unless it's one of those massive used car sellers on ebay, even then it's only free shipping to like 500miles

Avoid buying a boat on ebay. The pictures may look nice. However you might be stuck with a boat that's a piece of junk.

Any boat that has had the registration numbers carefully photoshopped out is suspect. In most instances an owner who doesn't want to reveal their information via the registration will mask the number with tape or use something to cover it. Why go the photoshop route if you have access to the boat?

Nick,
Maybe you're not familiar with the process on a major purchase?? You bid on the item listed, win the item but you don't pay for it until you take a look at it. My Tique was an Ebay purchase.

I bought an airplane on ebay. I used Pete's method. Worked out well.

I bought a Ford Excursion Diesel on EBay. It's better to buy local if you can. I flew out to Boston to see the shiny black truck only to realize half the truck was body filler. I negotiated 25% off of the bid-up price and had the filler removed and sheet metal work done back home for about the difference. Wish I still had that beast. Wife didn't like the diesel smell or noise it made on cold winter starts. I loved it. Towing--are we towing something?

Few things have a documented maintenance and repair history like an airplane. There are generally no big surprises.

Pete,
Your right about the process. I didn't know about the take a look at it before you buy. I knew that you bid on the item. Your Tique is pretty cool looking. I remember a while ago seeing you go buy my cottage heading to Big Stone.

Nick,
Also, there is a method of contesting the purchase on Ebay. A couple months ago I had to use it for the first time. The item that showed up wasn't what was pictured nor as described in the listing. It was close but still not the exact. Reporting the problem to Ebay the first thing to happen is they want you to contact the seller with the problem. I did as requested via the Ebay "contact seller".Then, I think it was 7 days if the problem isn't resolved or there's no answer from the seller, Ebay steps in. In my case, the seller didn't respond so Ebay refunded me the purchase cost. I didn't even have to send the idem back.

Ditto - $500 deposit then go look at it. If not acceptable, deposit refunded through EBay. I would hate it as a seller because it slows down the process so much.... but as a buyer, it's pretty good. This boat however.............
