I think this may be old news, but did anyone else see this new feature on the Mastercraft X26

I guess its a good idea, may end up saving a lot of fiberglass, but I kind of feel it is going to make the "driving an inboard" skill go the way of the dodo-bird, Sort of like parallel parking and backing up a trailer, soon all of these will only be ancient history.

"remember when the car wouldn't park itself" "Oh yeah, and when you actually had to steer the opposite way to back up a trailer" "man can you believe people used to drive boats with out side-thrusters..."

Don't know about the bow thruster, but I like their fiberglass floor with drop in carpet.

I can see the option as being something a buyer of a X26 would go for. I'd have to say that many of them have no concept of maneuvering a DD or VD inboard and they have the $$$. It's almost as bad as the novice boat driver not understanding how to slow/stop a boat. I've caught a few before crashing into the dock and the comment is something like "there aren't brakes on this thing" !! Seriously!!

And a bow thruster is going to fix this?

Greg is one step ahead of them. He don't need no stinkin' bow thruster.

I've seen HW do a move called the Bow Thruster but I don't think it's quite the same thing.

Park it in between some DDs to avoid getting a VD.

Well, I bet their target market is not a bunch of old-schoolers with $5-10K boats haha....never been on Planet Nautique or similar sites, but those guys probably love this kind of stuff.

That being said, if I had a boat that was worth as much as a house, I guess I'd use every feature available to protect it.

I can see them selling that option all day long, I've heard from so many people over the years that inboards suck because you can't steer them. I almost think people who buy these 150 K boats don't spec them, they just tell the dealer to put everything on it that's available, so the manufacturers are smart to keep adding huge $ options.

My jet boat has a stern thruster.

Our customers are pros at smashing all the pretty decals off the sides of the new big barges. Makes sense probably and will save them from buying 1200 dollar decal sets

Makes sense on an X-26'or G25. Those boats have some Serious issues on a very windy day when it's time to put them back on the trailer. For my $150k, another
$11k to make docking in a big crosswind a "one and done" makes total sense. Of course, there ever will be "my $150k" so Fugetaboutit. Yeah, a couple of ropes and a good 1st mate is all I'm gonna have--still gets it done.

Zach, speaking of trashed decals... The previous owner of my newest boat left it out in the sun for 30 some years, could you get a quote on what it would cost to replace mine???

I can see some people's frustration when driving and docking these boats. They may be a little tricky at times but they are predictable and with some seat time That worry of crashing goes away. Personally I think it is a bit much to install one of these on these ski boats, more of a luxury than a necessity. Kind of like putting automatic trailer reversing and parallel parking into a car. Removes the all important act of "thinking" while driving.
That being said; the extreme dead rise of the fish nautique would seriously benefit from having one. I've never had any grief with the way the BFN reacts though.
I've captained single screw boats twice the length of these and have never needed one. I admit it would have been a little quicker getting the 14' beam between the pilings at oak bluffs and similar situations but with a little approach planning, it is always doable.
