I have seen the month letter defined as both construction and certification. Not sure how certification and construction are related.

But not sure Michael where you got October 79 from the HIN

*may certification, no?

May 1980 build date would be consistent with a very late 1980 model year boat.

your exactly right. The only old things Ive ever had to look at have been old stand ups and they ran the same two numbers on the end.

Yup, the two digits at the end are 84+. The one shown is pre-84.    m is pretty much just a place holder, 80 model year, J = May construction.

It's a 1979 BFN the first year of these boats. The windshield changed to a solid piece with no air vents

Looks like a '81 with those graphics. The HIN should confirm. Cool boat. Welcome!

Interior doesn't look original, btw. More pics!

have you checked the HIN? Should be a number stamped in the gel on the transom, top right hand corner if you are standing behind the boat. The last two digits will be the year, 79, 80, 81, etc. My guess is 80, but that's based on nothing.

Where in Australia are you? Do you barefoot? I'm in Melbourne and an average to below average footer but I'm always looking for people to ski with.

Hi from Sunny Australia,

i have just picked up a Barefoot Nautique with the Big Block and pretty original looking interior. I'm trying to work out the exact year and maybe history of the boat.

i think its a 79 or 80, Is there a way to tell? about how many where built each year?

cheers,
