I know I need help with my link and I know someone will help.

I have been thinking about this boat all day. It looks like a good deal from the price it says and that it needs a little TLC but I think its skins and such without calling. I been really thinking of giving this guy a call. I don't want to sale my 2001 hull but was thinking of a second project type boat to keep me occupied. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to keep this one and my 1987 2001. I have room for 1 more project, but is a 1990 worth the effort envolved? Should I bite the bullet and call him tomorrow? This is the same area my 1987 SN 2001 hull came from.   I am really close to calling him. I am not to familiar with the hulls after 1988 ...any help on what to ask about and are they wood stringers or fiberglass?? The skins and motor work doesn't bother me? GUESS I WANT SOMEONE TO TALK ME INTO CALLING??????

At an asking price of $4k..... I can't talk you out of it yet. It's wood stringers but def not the end of the world. I'd talk him into weighing the boat and a compression check. If he obliges, work for $3350.

In short I think it's worth the effort and a 90 is a great boat. Make sure the trailer isn't rusted out, keeping in mind a new Ram-Lin is ~4500.00 alone. Do it. Do it. Do it.

Don,
Yes, it looks like a project boat but for the correct price I feel it's got potential. New skins and a hull wet sand - buff it should look brand new. Do check out the engine and stringers.

I forgot and had to edit:

based on the spot on the map in the ad, that boat cant be any more than 5 minutes from Marty. He'd probably be happy to go and put another set of eyes on it with you.

Yeah I thought of Marty as well. I am only 3 hrs from there. When I bought my 1987 2001, I left Clinton NC at 4AM and was there by 8AM no problem. Just wondering about the TLC???????? Hate to ride there for 3 to 4 hours and stringers are junk and floor is crap. But I guess I could stop by Lexington for some red slaw and some DIP???!!!!!! So as not to be total waste? LOL

Does Christine's have skins for this model? Or would I be on my own for an interior shop?

Christines could do them. If I am recalling correctly, maybe about $2500 - 3000 for skins and around 1000 for install by a good local shop.

Looks like a good deal to me. Low hours. Engine looks clean and stock? Shoot an offer? You may be able to find a local to re do the skins. Cheaper.

Spoke to the owner today and he was a pretty nice guy. Said the boat needs all new skins , an ignition breaker, said he'd rigged up a little something to get by with, and the motor needed a tune up says it idled fine but was gonna need something. He also said the floors had no soft spots in them. That's enough to get me to ride a couple hrs to take a look, BUT he said he's had a ton of calls and I just found out I have to work this weekend. He said if no one shows up this weekend or shows up and wants to low ball him he's gonna give me a call. Some how I don't see this one lasting if its like he says.

Didn't give you much notice that you had to work, call in sick    It'd its got potential it won't last long this time of year. Good luck hope it works out.

Gary I know last minute sucks but I am the dept manager so no calling in sick plus we need all hands on deck. I just hate I am missing the WLM2016 shindig on Sat too. But its what lets me keep buying old boats to tinker on so guess its a trade off.
Sebastion the owner referenced a Nautiqueskins.com when we talked said he priced all the skins for around $2500.00 so I guess he had done some research on them. I was thinking about Christines as they are a sponsor. We'll see if the boat GODS smile on me this weekend who knows.
