Taking old registration stickers off the boat and a couple of them left that goopy sticky adhesive residue. I've used desolv-it or goo gone to remove that goop in the past, but never on gelcoat. Is it safe to use on the gel, or is there something else I should look for?

Adam,
I concur with Gary. It's safe and you won't see any damage to the glass plus it works better than those "household" products you have used.

WD40 - NOT PB Blaster.

Works well but some residue left behind that dish soap cleans well..... and makes the gel shine like floor wax! Just ask the PO of my project Skier...........

(I know the flames are coming because I have NOT read the WD40 MSDS - which BTW, is an antiquated term. SDS is the new term and form for OSHA compliance. I maintain SDS forms for all of the products used in my garage.............just don't read them.)

The original poster Pete is not allowed near any gas or electric powered tools. Acetone is even pushing it,water might be a better choice

I still have so much to learn about members of this community. I'm seriously looking forward to it.

Adam I know you have some finger nail polish remover.
The old stuff was mostly acetone. Now it's kinder / gentler.

Acetone is awesome on gel. Also pretty good at cleaning paint and dock scratches off there rub rail. But, don't get it on a sticker/pinstripe/painted state numbers. BKH
