gas spillage, vent prob

   I'm wondering if those vent line traps really work? I recently purchased a 96 sport and I noticed the rub rail on the transome was discolored so I knew something was up. First of all, gas is impossible to get in the tank without holding the fume collar all the way up the nozzle. the tank always acts like it's full, clicks in a small spurt at a time. If I ever get it close to full, it pukes out the vent like crazy. Then the vent pukes like crazy when trailering. All this and the gauge reads about 3/4 to 7/8 not even full! Filling up my 78 was like driving to the fillin station- No problem. Is there really a design problem with this series or is it just "operator error". thanks any info you have.

	I have a brand new, in the box, item as pictured above that I am not going to use. I purchased the device for my '93SN, but could not find a suitable place to mount and really do not have a problem anyway. Then I was going to mount on my '77 Martinique, but sold it. So, I will sell the above picture device for 75 cents on the dollar to anyone who wants it. 10 cents on the dollar will then go to CCF

	sounds fair, thanks for the info. I'll have to look into the clearence issue also. does it have to be mounted vertically?

	I thought I answered this earlier, but my post did not seem to take. Anyway, yes, the device must be mounted vertically or near vertical. And in the process, the vent hose cannot have a low spot created.

	I have to hold the nozzle almost out of the fuel hose to get it to take fuel. I also have to turn the nozzle so it lines up with the side of the boat... Mine pukes if I get full, but not while trailering. I'm always washing the gas of it at the station...

	I thought I might be crazy because I have recently found out the same thing. If I hold the nozzle and hose completly upside down it feeds fine. I still can get more than about 7/8 full w/o puking fuel so I'm looking at that vent gizmo. there just has to be a real solution tot his problem. Nice sport by the way!

	but a loop in the vent hose and the problem is solved.
