So I started my DUI install this weekend, but since my 94 had the Protec/holley throttle body injection parts, there are a lot more wires and sensors than the standard Protec swap.    I was able to separate the fuel injection harness from the boat(intact), but there are a couple of cross over wires, and now several left over sensors that I assume were direct inputs to the FI system.    I looked all over the internet to see if I could find a FI wiring diagram, or some sort of schematic that would give me peace of mind that the sensor wires I have removed are not going to be necessary for motor operation etc...

Can anyone help me to determine what the sensors are that I have unplugged? and if they are needed?    A wiring diagram would be really helpful, but does not seem to be available.    I'll take motor pictures shortly if needed, but was hoping to Identify the sensors from a diagram/schematic if that was possible.

From the looks of things, JQuest had this same experience, but there is no documentation on his threads indicating the extent of sensor changing./unplugging that he did.

There are one or two knock sensors in the heads and one extra engine temperature sensor. Also, I think there is an extra oil pressure switch that reduces rpm to idle if it sensed low oil pressure.

Other than that there shouldn't be any more sensors.

Looks like Zach nailed it 1 knock sensor, 1 oil pressure switch and a water temp switch.

I used the wiring diagram that came with the manual. I used different colored high-lighter pens to trace each wire. The only wires I left were for Alternator, Oil Pressure and Water Temperature. Everything else came out. The grey wire is for the tachometer out and gets hooked up to the DUI unit. The wire bundle that comes from PCM that is wrapped in black stretch electrical tape has 2 unused wires that are for the carb choke connections. I left all sensors in place, just removed the wires.

On my boat, there were 3 circuit breakers. I removed all but the 50 amp breaker. I also removed all the hoses, wires and pumps associated with the fuel injection. I went with the mechanical fuel pump from skidim.com     I ran a new fuel line to the fuel pump. I removed the fuel return line and plugged it at the tank.

Thanks to the 3 of you! I'll be working on this tonight again. I do have the 351 protec wiring diagram, and was using it, I just wanted to be sure I hadn't missed anything with the fuel injection portion.    I will take some pictures too, and will post so hopefully this helps the next guy as well.   JQ   I got your PM as well, I'll give you a call if I need some pointers.   Thank you!

Just wanted to circle back on this thread and close the loop incase anyone is attempting this conversion.
I was able to remove the entire Fuel injection harness, and all of the related components (I left the duplicated sensors installed to keep the holes plugged).    Follow the DUI install thread that JPASS has created, and you should be fine.    There is a turquoise and purple wire that interconnects to the FI control unit that is a secondary tach output, I clipped the spliced wire to remove this parallel circuit, and connected my gray tach wire to the turquoise/purple wire as instructed in the DUI install thread.

Glad things worked well for you. You'll like the DUI unit - very nice distributor. I've been pleased with the performance of my engine after the DUI and QuickFuel upgrades.
