Maybe but probably not. A better description of what's happening might help us. Are you checking for spark or fuel after it dies?

The part about "a better description might help" didn't seem to get any response from you. Does it run for 20 minutes, no matter what speed you're going? How long before it restarts? What happens after you restart it with some gas down the carburetor? Does it run for another 20 minutes Like TRB asked, have you checked for spark right after it dies even though you think its a fuel problem? Always good to be sure it's not electrical before you head down the wrong path. If you're SURE it's fuel related Then hook up a temporary portable tank directly to the fuel pump suction and go for a ride and see if it happens again. That'll tell you a lot. The problem is before the fuel pump if your problem is gone (filter, anti siphon valve, fuel pickup in tank, plugged tank vent, restricted fuel line to name some possibilities. If it's still there the fuel pump or carburetor would be the issue. Make sure the portable tank is vented when you're using it. Do a search on here about fuel issues, you'll find plenty of info And..........provide some info, it'll get you more help |

Not much of a description or any answers to the previous questions.
It sounds like you now think it's not a fuel problem As far as your question............NO,it ain't normal to touch the distributor and have the engine speed up. More questions for ya' What kind of distributor? Points or electronic? What do you have for a coil? |
