OK Tim, here's a pic. I am not sure, but I think Rob was driving the boat next to the jump when he caught the prop on a cable. Small world. This is the same prop that fell off the boat with a sheared shaft, and was fished out with scuba tanks.

If that's the case then it sounds like Rob owes you some warranty work!

Looks like it needs some TLC for sure so get Rob to tune it up.

It's a shame that transmission sat in the water so long. It still has clear transmission fluid in it. Should I get it off or just scrap it? How about the transmission cooler?

Save it all, submersion isn't a death knell for most things. Even the block could be rebuilt. Trans is worth something as a core. Cooler should be a-ok (it's brass).

Is the pylon still available? I've recently acquired and old CC Mustang (I'm not sure of the year yet - late 60's early 70's) the pylon is a bit wobbly and this appears to be the same..

It sure is. I don't think you necessarily need a new one, I think you may need to figure out whats loose. My 75 used the plywood flooring to keep the pylon tight while newer boats used an integrated engine frame clamp. Depending on your year, you may just need to tighten some bolts, or you may need to do some carpentry. You should start a separate thread with some pictures, and I am sure someone could help you, and if it turns out you need a pylon, mine is available.

If that is the case, you are probably right. There is a slight gap in the ring attached to the flooring and pylon. I've acquired this boat via inheritance so to speak, have never owned a boat before. I'm handy and have seen posts about sturdy pylons and don't want it coming loose and hit a passenger in the head. I'm loving the boat and haven't been on the lake or at a gas station and someone asking if it's actually a CC Mustang....LOTS of learning in my future :)

Roger,
How about starting a new thread with some pictures? Do some digging around the pylon as suggested as well as other areas under the sole. BTW, the pylons are not the same.

is that pylon the same/very similar to the "2001" pylon.

Roger I don't know if you've seen my thread but I beefed up the support on my Mustang where the pylon runs thru. I also stepped up to the next size bolt where the pylon attaches to the cup glassed into the floor. Here's the link to the repair I did on mine. I see you're also in Atlanta if you need some help or a second set of eyes to come up with a solution then give me a shout. I work at Hartsfield so can get to just about anywhere pretty easily.

Foot/TimBobs Mustang

Tom, If Scott didn't take both tracking fins and you still have one left I could probably use a spare on hand.

Sn pylons are the same 1980-1987.5.

They share nothing in common with the 60's pylons.

Tim, I got them both, but I only need one. I can keep a communal spare ready to ship. I'm not married to it, but having a spare around probably isn't the worst idea for me either ;)
