I do image upload direct from my computer. It is a bit of a pain which is why my updates are a little far apart. Would be nice to be able to post from iPhone!
Heat stamped pleated vinyl is available from quite a few manufacturers. Not quite original but very close. And whose counting anyway |

Finished glassing the floor and put in the pylon plates (thanks Duane).
More taping for black outline. Hoping to shoot black tomorrow or thurs. Carpet is glued in and just needs to be trimmed. Muffler has gone through some glass work. It was just a little cracked under there |

Wow, I haven't checked in here for a while and had no idea you've gotten so far. Looks great! Sure makes you feel good when you get to that point where all the finish stuff is going in

Dave,
Yes, your build is moving faster than any other I've seen. Nice work! Did you make any attempt to find the original grass turf type carpet? |

When we did the Black we used a air brush like they use to paint t-shirts. Spray half on boat and half on the paper.

With all this floor work, I just have to ask: Why has it not become more common, if at all, given the work-scope to begin with, to not put in a nice dimpled fiberglass floor, and then go with a snap-in carpet. Gluing in something that is wet ALL THE TIME, while certainly easy and cheap, seems counter productive. And it's hot on the feet! ;-) I dare say my Bryant IO, eons ago, was way ahead in this area...
This is great work you're doing... Ultra... |

Ok but maybe it's the picture that makes the carpet look grey or you didn't go original?? The yellow accent boats back then would have had this tan yellowish brown turf style: |

Mark, The turf poly carpets CC used of that era were cool and dried very quickly. They were not "wet ALL THE TIME" There are some that do like to keep their projects looking like factory! |

The gray was a good choice. Pretty sure CC watered down their carpet color options to gray or tan...

We believe our original to be yellow and black. Although we couldn’t find it produced today. On a previous page I outlined the colors we found. For those doubters about the yellow and black, I have a pic of some we found in the boat, just a scrap though. While keeping it original with grass carpet, the grey was an easy choice. Will make the yellow upholstery pop
As for the airbrush outline. I tried on a test board and it looked bad. Partly bc I didn’t have a steady hand and also bc every bit of over-spray could be seen on the yellow (think it would blend better on blue, green or dark red).. We decided solid black looked nice previously so we are going back, just paint this time. From the standpoint of taping, I wish the boat had just been yellow! |

Got the carpet trimmed up and all glued down. We are happy with how it turned out.
Finished shooting the black outline. Waiting a few days to peel the tape. Have fingers crossed that it all comes out well. We also took the cutlass bearing out last night and have the new one to put in. Got the exhaust tips on. Waiting for more 5200 for rudder port and bracket mounts etc. And a can pile update. |

We are for the most part done. Since the last update, we pulled the tape on the graphics, added stickers and emblems, dropped the engine in, aligned it, and started putting on everything else. What a learning process this has been.
Anyone want to guess the number of cans in the pile? And what we towed to white lake: Thanks to everyone for questions answered and advice that was given to us. We are very happy with how this first one turned out. How many do you need...just one more. |

A while back I was wondering if she'd be ready by White Lake, but a few weeks ago I said to myself, "No way....They got too far to go." Very impressed and little bit amazed how quickly you made it to the finish line. NIcely done and looks great.

Really awesome to see it on the water. That had to be one satisifying ride, all that work and to have it looking and running that well is quite an accomplishment!

Hats off to you guys. To do what you guys did starting in the fall, right after I saw it, to early spring, as a partnership, moving it around to accommodate the process, really impressive when you think about all the odds that goes into these projects
